Just got 6500k`s on Diablos (rear) , I`ve just put Pilot powers on the rear , will see how they go . 10,000kms + on a tyre is that natural.

Sluggish and ham-fisted on Conti Sport Attacks. 4,500km rear, 10,000km fronts. I may not have been running high enough tyre pressures though. Mix of touring, weekend blats and a few track days.

4300 km out of a rear
11000 km out of the front

Quickish road riding + occasional trackday + commute most days

(ooooo.. the first time I've ever worked it out in km, lol)
What a difference indifference can make

GSF 1200 8000 km out of a rear sport tour if I'm lucky.
Best wear from Z6's,but I like Pilot Roads better.
All open road and I ride like a girl.

    Not enough K's

Will probably get 9k from the front tyre (Battlax) but will be pushing to get 8 from the rear Bike's been lowered about 15mm on the front forks which may have affected the weight dist and tyre wear. Def not a tyre whore, but not leaning enough on the corners to avoid squaring off

I claim the record so far... 68000, yes sixty-eight thousand kilometers, with the stock GN250 front tyre. Low horsepower = long tyre life I guess.

It's rock hard, harder than the road itself I'd wager, and it's the original one when it was fitted at the factory in 1986, and it was kinda cracking and perished all around the sides. I wasn't the one who put the Kays on it by the way, I would have been nine years old when the tyre was fitted.
I got rid of it happily, replaced it with a Pirelli.

    1. I rider a cruiser.
    2. I dont thrash the tyres...
    3. The tyres are not of soft compound as they are for the sportbikes.
    4. These kms are all done by me on the bike and not previous owners or any other rider, so that I know they are genuine kms.
    5. I have never ridden my bike on a track to wear out the tyres either.

As to why...... I guess all the above answers and the fact that it just happens.

I use Azaros on my VF1000FE, front and rear. I generally replace my tires about once a year, and I do about 20,000km a year. I have been known to ride until its "arrr, them is toast", but I try not to.

Surely there has to be a compromise here somewhere, what are they like in the wet or in the twisties ? Thrill has to come before economy thats why I ride a bike anyway. I use to have a XV1100 and only ever got 10-11k out of anything I tried. I thought it handled reasonably well considering it was a cruiser.

Twisties - Just ask anyone that rides with me....... She handles real well.

Wet - No problems..... but I do slow down my riding ways when it is raining.

Thrill factor - Yep I zip zap my way around on the roads.... no problems. Whether thats in the city or the country roads.

I have ridden this bike for going on 7 years...... so I know her well.... and what she is capable of...... I put on good tyres.... and just happen to get a hell of a lot of KMs out of them...... luck maybe, maybe its how I ride, who knows what the answer is...... I get the tyres pressure checked regular... so I get good all round wear and tear on them.... in all conditions.
