My binettes were related to having a GP replica as a first bike.

Cheers everyone. Think I might take your advice dawnrazor and check out the cost of a new lever. Will pop down to Mt Eden Motorcycles tomorrow. Should be easy enough to change myself.
Looking forward to getting out on Sunday, so will try to get it done by then.

Glad your ok. Prob get lotsa slack for this but I think every one needs a couple of good bins. The ones that have had bins have more respect for their bikes, road and bodily parts. Just think of it as a learning curve. (excuse the punt)

jinkies! Just found out about this thread - as you probably know I, too went for a hootingnanny down a bank to see the foliage up close and personal!

Glad to hear you're okay and that you got back on and pootled around a bit! Long as you reflect and think about the things you did and what you needed to do correctly instead is time well spent

Good to see that your enthusiasm and motivation is still peachy keen

    Keep riding safely out there!

hadn't heard - wow, glad to hear you are OK . Those bushes, they can jump out at you at any time - ya gotta watch for them. Hope the little hornet wasn't too damaged either.
Was out your way the other day and thought you would probably be around somewhere. Will pm you my number and next time I will pop on over and say hi.

Yep, i'll be there. Unless it rains, as I need more experience before I'm ready for that.
Hope to see you there Scorpygirl. I'm a scorpio myself.

I have a BLOODY HEAVY HAMMER if that helps. But is it an alloy lever or steel ?
I had a look at gijoe1313's hornet as I was loading it on the trailer - steel gear peg so heavy hammer is a good solution.

Everyone has a little bin at some stage - let's just hope that's the only kind you ever have! It does shake the confidence though. I had an off a few years ago and although it was only minor, you need to take a few minutes to get your head around the fact you have canned off before getting on the bike again. But getting back out there is the best method of putting a bin behind you.

Yep, think I will need to take my bike in and have the nice boys at Mt Eden bend it back into place as it may take forever to get the part I need (even Japan doesn't have it in stock so I have been told). Oh well

A good steel pipe fitting over it could do the job!
