There was a cop on the Takapau plains... open area of straitish road pulling vehicles up and ticketing them at as low as 103km/h .... his excuse ... the law is the law.... anything over 100 is speeding...... he didnt seem to do that for long .... wonder where they buried his body hahahahhahaahahah

But seriously, the speed limit is set and anything over the posted limit can be ticketed at the discretion of the officer... look at your next ticket ... theres a catagory up to 10km over the limit, if there is a hard and fast rule that they have 10% then that wouldnt be there would it?

So its all up to the officer.

    Ban Parents from School zones

It's not the passing motorists that are the threat it's the mums and their urban tractors. Might is right seems to be the norm. and of course, they can't possibly turn up with the precious ones in a car smaller than *hers!* so slowly but surely the tanks get bigger and the driving worse. (We live next door to a school)

I too work at a primary school and scary shit happens every day, at not much more than walking pace! It's not just speed that causes accidents, it's idiots doing stupid things; add speed and it just gets worse.

Got a speed camera ticket in the mail today. For doing 59km/h in a 50km/h zone at 8:24 am.

The fine for this offence is $30.

My old man's just come back to the UK from a holiday in Aus... to find a speeding ticket from the rental car they had over there.

I can't believe they bothered to track him down here in the UK for doing 108k in a 100k zone and that they got it all done before he even got back... must be short of a few dollars eh?

The way I understand it - the 10km/h grace doesn't exsist. I've (personally) only been aware of a 10% deviation from the posted speed limit i.e. 55km/h in a 50 zone, 110km/h in a 100 zone

    Thank you Arthur.

It's 10km/hr grace ONLY at the open road speed limit. 7 @ 70 km/hr, 5 at 50km/hr, and so on.

See if you can pay it off in weekly amounts since you "are a bit short of money at the moment"....

That would be an awesome sign for out around the country Schools. Could do with it on Mangakahia Rd in Titoki where the sign is 70Km before the Mangakahia Area School. That way it would encourage sager speeds during school hour without making it too slow in the Weekends.
