touring they are wicked, shocks on my old girl were bad, check out suspension, if it hasnt been fixed allready. it will need to be done. heavy bike with moderate shocks. if ya havnt brought it careful, the k's are very high. or else you should be able to get it for a cheap (very cheap) price. and long as they did the tensioner on the cam chain, shouldnt be so bad. but with this age and k's id be looking at replacing it, cant trust what they say. what year is it?

1989. What price would you pay for one that has done that many kms and needs about another $400 worth of work?

If the bike has a dash that reads 180MP/h and in small 280KM/h what would the ODO be in...KM or Miles? I remember my brother in-laws CBR600F2 had the same set up but the ODO was Miles as the was the main messurement.

A bike with those sort of Km / miles can be ok if carefully maintained but if not I would budget $1 -2k for repairs to suspension and a good engine overhaul.
I would be expecting front springs replaced, dampers overhauled and maybe fork rechroming. Rear suspension replaced and swing arm rebushed. Head off the motor, valve grind, possibly rings and check the cams and cam chain.

If its really cheap it may be worth it but without seeing it (as I assume you haven't) I would not be expecting a lot. If you go ahead make it subject to your inspection before completing the purchase.

I was going to get a transporter to pick it up. However I think I might give it a miss as I didnt know about the shocks etc etc.

Ok I've done some digging and have found out that if the main speed reading is in Miles then the odo is in Miles and vice versa for Kilometers. Ifffffff any one was interested that was.

IMHO if your'e paying more than $600 and getting it transported, you're a brave geezer. Unless you have a boat as well. Will make an excellent anchor. It is going to cost you money. The biggest mystery is how much. Smaller with lower mileage would be better. Good luck mate.

I have a mate with an RF900 with the same speedo layout ,"ie large numbers are in miles" and his odometer is also in miles.

Thats what I thought...they also confirmed this on CBR forum. However the owner says otherwise...seems to think it is in KMs even though the main reading is in Miles.

I read about an early CBR900RR with 200,000 miles on the clock, altho well maintained from what i gather, Engine work has been one set of rings and a couple of cam chains/tensioners from all accounts, It was used for a world tour from memory. not really relevent i know but still interesting.
