Years ago I did an East Cape (sunrise) to Port Waikato (sunset) run. Pretty spectacular it was too.

The black top to the East Cape is home for me.

Sounds like you had a great ride Max. Shame about the rain catching up. Its great riding under the stars in that part of the country.

I've done Whakatane to Whakatane round the cape to Gizzy and up through the Gorge at midnight..but to push on through to the Big Smoke is legendary.
