Do you need a license? And is there more than just this one race to the series?

Ok, just seen the poster, kind of answers my questions

Yeah keen as I think it's going to rain most of the week, but I'll find out a few more details first.

You sold the 125 already Cam?
I decided after the GNCC that I'm not fit enough to do the Ironman 4 hours straight. But one of my mates said he would team up for the two man. Now I'm having 2nd thoughts and I was talking to another mate tonight and we might do the Ironman after all. That way we can probably get in about 3 + hours of riding, without going hard out for the whole 4 hours. Do a lap at warm up pace, have a break and then just put in some fast laps in our own good time. The cost is the same per rider, but we will get more riding in than we would teaming up. We don't really care about the results, just want to get a good ride in.

Twice the displacement, twice the cost and a decibel problem, I'll pass on the inside brraaaap!!!

Bill, I don't really understand the reasoning behind the need for MNZ licences to do such events? Why do we need to pay a fee for these when other organisations don't require them (Greg Power for instance)? It makes the events more expensive, but there must be a good reason why they are required? And considering what ever the reason might be, how do the others get around it?

Frst up if you need a day licence it will cost you $60.00 total as compared to $55.00 you paid for the GNCC.
MNZ events are run to their guidelines as far as safety for riders and spectators which protects not only us the organisers but competitors as well.
A private organiser must have their own insurance for events and i would not like to be them should there be a fatality or a forest fire (insurance companies will do everything possible to avoid paying out in this situation)
however MNZ will back us all the way as they are funded by the clubs and riders.
Personally I would not even help at a non MNZ event as this immediatly puts you personally responsible and liable (ie your home and savings).
An MNZ clubman licence costs $75.00 for 1 year- if you race 20 times a year that is only $3.75 per race- pretty cheap compared to 1 fork service or an aftermarket exhaust system ay?
It seems that there is a huge amount of riders that do not ride MNZ events because they think that a licence is hard to get or you have to pass a test, that is just not so- ring our club secretary and get the ball rolling- we put a huge amount of work into our events and always put on an interesting ride not just a quick blast up some roads and a couple of whooped out tracks.
    See you there on Monday!

Thanks! Yeah for sure, the WMMC puts on the best rides in my opinion with the most effort put into the track layout. Always a blast!

Why is there no MNZ license required for trail rides? Or extra charge by private promoters for trail rides? The risk appears the same.

we pay a bulk fee for trail rides which is less than races- MNZ deem the risk is higher in racing- our fees are higher in races to pay for trophies etc.
