Whats the Westpac ride? I'm going to Riverhead tonight and might be up for a ride on Sunday.
Anyone going to the Whangarei Heads trailride on Sunday? Thats an awesome ride and I've done it the last two years. But if there is a good local ride I might save the fuel.

    Shit! What an eventfull ride!!!

First up Barty5 ran a bearing or something very wrong in the bottom end which sucks big time.

I managed 4 morning loops, the first loop was slippery in the odd place and packed with riders but this then opened up nicely. Had a good battle with a new Kawasaki 450 which was fun and a couple of guys wearing cotton pants, singlet and a old helmet , i dont know how they did it!!

Second loop was when things started to get interesting. In the uphill bog a guy on a Kawasaki was sitting deep in the middle of a rutted bog crossing half way up the hill and some guy on a diry quad came roaring up with no control but keeped on giving it power and ran straight into the back of the poor guy in the Kawasaki. The quad rider then got up and verbally abused the guy and finished it with a punch - talk about lacking a few brain cells.

I was then riding along a steady up hill that had steep banks on one side and a near cliff face on the other and you could ride right close to the edge - the kind you think in the back of your mind it would suck falling down but continue to power around. There was then a big fat guy riding what i think was a large blue Gasgass and was riding right along side the bank for a few corners so i over took on the inside and just as i was almost in front he just came across from the otherside of the track and knocked me straight down this approx 5m deep cliff. I some how managed to get up just to find the guy staring down at me and then do a big sweaping skid turn around and power off. Thanks buddy! I've now got a pretty messed up knee, sore ribs and back and my bikes rear gaurd was pushed out of the mounts and a dented rim (not sure if it was from him, but didn't have any heavy landings).

I guess when you have the large numbers like on these events there will always be a fair share of idiots. Otherwise it was a good ride.

yup my day sucked arse bid time frist lap and bike starts makin knock sounds 2 1/2 @##@@%&****@%!!#$# pushing later all up hill get it back to road and back to car park cheers for the guys that stopped to help no thanks to the arse hole who didnt stop were tryinf to flag down to get a marshel for the gut that rolled his quad. Its at this point my day got even better took off home (work shop ) to tear down bike to acess damage ( drain radiator and oil ) didnt see anything out of the norm tear off plastics and tank to find plug lead had popped off the s/plug creating the horible noises (clank clank )due to not firing propely had been running sweet till this point no missing or anything to give it away though this was odd pushed it back on threw tank at it kicked over and all is sweet. So one hell of a lot of swearing was done by me dam near got out the lighter to burn it ( not as much swearing as i was pushing though get heavy upp hill) any way all is good at least i wont have buy new crank. but it was a good waste of 60 liters of gas in the car.

Most excellent day. A few idiots as usual, saw the quad incident, completely uncalled for.
Mind you quad riders are obviously lacking in some way or they would be on bikes.
What I don't quite understand is why when confronted with a padock that streches miles in all directions people still feel the need to pass with inches to spare. Dosn't bother me that much but iritates the wife no end.

Yeah overall it was a pretty good day, good tracks, nothing to hard, but those quads sure can be a pain in the ass!

I agree, quads can be a real pain blocking the trails. Most are good enough to pull over and make room but I wonder if there are not enough for them to start having their own events?
