    Question Inline 4 250s

    I was just pondering, why don't they make inline 4 250's anymore?

    They make 2 inlines etc, but the inline 4's fro mthe day are still very popular etc.

    Yea like why don't they make them in 2007. Maybe they have and I've miss it. I've seen the GSX250 and GPX250 etc, but nothing like a CBR250 or GSXR250 etc

    Possibly because they now make Very Big scooters and the trends in Japan and Europe has moved on to the Big Scooters these days?

    That makes sense N4CR, Because that thought had crossed my mind about the power restrictions being brought in etc.

    So yea, why bother making a 4inline if u can get the same limited power from a 2 inline.

    they should sell unresticted 250s, but only to people on their fulls etc.

    yeah my dream road bike would be some blueprinted current year zx10 shaped fi with small turbo and fully adjustable ohlins/wp etc etc stock and some rediculous power output... and yet it will probably neve rhappen, they ditched the gentlemans agreement for car power last year so why not the 250 power... hrmmm, it's not impossible.

    one day...

    is it government or gentlemen agreement for the 250 limiting?

    I know it's gentlemen for the 300kph limit one

    i thought they did make them, but they just don't bring them in 2 NZ cus they are expensive and no one would buy them.
    im sure a couple of years ago when i had bought by cbr250rr i was looking at sites, and they had brand new ones in aus. but they were like 10g or something.
    i could be dreaming or just couldh ave read wrong info, so don't quote me

    It also was a joint venture by all the bike companies as 250 il4's were too expensive to build and limited by performance. I remember oogling a brand new 1989 FZR250 for the ripe price of $11,000.
    Did the same thing again for a second hand 98 Prilla RSR250 with carbon goodies for only $12,000.
    It has to make financial sense or else it goes. Ever looked how many RWD cars were around in the 70's......how many new ones can you buy now? Shit even toyota barely makes them - and they are the biggest non-conglomerate car company.

    it's a limit to 45ps, like the 400 limit in japan etc. same as the 209kw limit they used to have on cages.

    the '2001' zxr 250's and stuff are mostly re registered as 01's somehow, guess writeoffs or never registered untill then. although i have seen some very different paint schemes on some of the ones that don't have old schemes... they moved to malaysia for 1995 years so it is possible that cheap local versions are still being produced under license, but i doubt it. you still see the usual '99/00/01' zxr 250's with the silver frames and blue white paint jobs, which was only produced in 1991 (c model). and the black/green frame/banana shifter etc which is 92-93.it's quite common in aussi to see the zxr's like that. i should ring up kwaka and get the official line, but as far as i'm concerned production stopped in 1995 in malaysia 1994 in japan same as cbr250rr from memory, they were heavily power restricted 1993 and onwards 92 don't seem to be too bad, 91 being the best for engine power as far as i'm concerned.. although i had mine modded for a long time.

    you can still buy the CB250 hornet new, they have the 'same' engine as the CBR250RR did back in 1993, but a tad de-tuned.

    Sl1nky - the Aussie ones are a pisstake, they weren't made after 1993/1994, the Aussie ones are 'new' because they are registered that year, some may be brand new and have been sitting in a container/warehouse somewhere.

    Given the market in New Zealand at the moment im sure bike shops would import them and shaft people out of 9-10k if they were still being made, its only and extra $500 to get a bike to NZ if shipping it by itself, would be a lot cheaper per-bike if they were in a slit level container with 20-40+ bikes in a container.
