Sweet road safety idea

I have an idea.

What if every new car was fitted with a breath tester which you had to use before it would let you turn your car on. It would stop people from drunk driving.

And every wof time it could be recailbrated.

Sure there would be a few problems to start with but im sure with enough time and money it would work 100% fine.

no need to point out the fact that "most" bad drink drivers "drive old cars" as this isnt an immediate fix, its a step in the right direction for the future.

But is this going to far? Is it imposing on our free will? Is it wrong to take away our decsision to break the law? If things start to go down this road is that a good or bad idea (think of having wireless signals that limit the speed of your car when you enter a speed zone)...

We have the tecnology......

the breath alcohol limits are different worldwide and I doubt any manufacture is going to build that sort of shit into a car to appease a bunch of sheep fuckers in the south pacific.

And whats to stop the drunk parent getting their sober child to blow into it and unlock the car....or any other combination of senarios that would render this a pointless and redundant invention....

Compressed air in a can, would work as well I'd imagine given the right attachment......

a vaccum cleaner on blow

err heres an idea, make a unit that can be set from 0 - what ever country is the max - off

AS they need to calibrate them they will need to adjust them.

Its also a flawed idea thinking that roadside checkpoints are going to catch everyone as well...

Not really going to happen with helen and the media in controll.

And as re to the idea thatsomone else could start the car for you, yes no system is perfect but you could make the key have fingerprint access for the drivers of that vechical......

why don't we fit all cars with an anal probe that checks your DNA and blood alcohol levels, verifies that you have a licence on the LTSA database, is speed controlled by GPS and runs on semen?

Actually this idea has been in use in the states for some time, apparently they just get someone else to blow into it and off you go.

Hang on chaps. This is a dumb. You are aware that alcohol is a natural by product of metabolism in the human body.

There were people advocating a zero alcohol blood level for driving. It was left to ALAC to point out that this was impossible, not to mention stupid.

The fact that you have alcohol in your system is just that. A fact. The important part is how high a concentration of alcohol is present. (Basic toxocology - it's not the poison, it's the dosage).

So yes you could do this, but for it to be a meaningful exercise you would need to be able to calibrate the testing device to each individual who might operate the vehicle.
