3000k and we are home again, what an awesome ride... 1st up a big thanks to the KBer's that looked after us and organised rides and escorted us around the country.
Day 1, Chch - Picton
Left chch and headed for Picton motor home park, The Kaikour coast is one of my fav s/i runs the scenery is always changing. Biffed the gears in our cabin then headed to town for a feed As luck has it there was a band playing on the foot path where we ate, which over looked the truly lovely Picton harbour.
Day 2, Picton - Foxton
Up and onto the ferry... great crossing and 3hrs later we landed on north Is dirt.
As we rolled off the boat Jim2 and a bunch of locals had gathered to escort us straight back out of town.
We headed up the takas which i found over rated due to the excess car population and the shortness of the ride, I made my way through the bunch and pulled in behind Flame on her 'bolt (well she does have a much nicer arse than Paul in NZ)
At the top the view down was sweet as and I could see why it was a local hang out for the biker kind.
Paul headed back down and we left Flame to do the same. Jim2 took us through the back roads which consisted of some nice corners and a feed at a cafe somewhere (kinda getting lost at this point)
The worst part of our trip happened after this where a silly bitch decided to park on a bend leaving her 4x4 1/2 way out on the road. Jim and I scooted around the bend to surprise a articulated truck and trailer that was hauling arse rather well... the driver hiffed the anchors out and chose to line the 4x4 up rather than the group of bikers, an awesome effort by this guy as he jack knifed the trailer and dropped it into the ditch on the side of the road, stopping within 500mm of the 4x4... give that man a single malt... or the whole friggen bottle.
Not far up the road we stopped to wait for BuellBabe and AJturbo & mudboy, after a rather heavy down pour that lasted all of 10min's... BB and AJ finally showed their faces (seems they were waiting round the corner for us... 'doh')
The group then blasted off after the turbo and the 2 loose units riding it, all the way to foxton where some headed back to welly and the rest joined the Skunks, u4ea & chancy at AJ's for some grub and bullshit talk.
Have to say the young fellas on the TLR and R1 rode very nicely, infact everyone did, great to see and to have ridden with you guys n girls.
Day3, foxton - Taupo
Left Foxton with Rashika, Buellbabe and AJ via the Manawatu Gorge, now that was impressive great ride and the wind turbines looked bloody massive... we passed through Napier were we had lunch and went through the tarawera valley to taupo, yet another awesome stretch of road.
Finished up at Taupo were we had a poke around, drink or two and a nice Thai feed... this took us back to the motel were we had a pool party of our very own (swimming pool, spa and sauna) ...including a quick root in the sauna.
Day4, Taupo - Whangamata
Taupo and the morning was looking sweet yet again, after the girls put me and AJ to shame with their full on cooked breakies and we just had a coffee and pokie wee pancakes we shot out to the Taupo race track for a look, mint wee stretch of tarmac and I'm definately going to have to drag the race bikes up for a spin some time.
Headed for Rotorua via a lot of frosty and big sweeping curves. Stopped at the lake for a wee and a photo take then did the next stretch of our wicked trip.
Pyes Pa I think it was called, which was an awesome ride, ending up meeting the Tauranga group which then took us through to the Mount for a beer and poke around the area.
The guys n girls (big thanks to yas too and sweet as to meet you lot) then escorted us to Wangamata pub for a quick sesh and thats when we noticed that home for the night was right next door. The Tauranga crew buggered off and we had another spar/sauna (no nookie this time tho) nice pizza and off ta bed, at the motel.
Day5, Whangamata - dorkland
Well, I've heard so much about the Corro loop so that was to be our route to Auckland.
BB made us all breakie backon, eggs and mushies on toast (cheers babe) then we did the bolt (after paying for the room)
Now, the Corro was a magnificent ride with lunch at Whitianga after the other 3 tried to loose me by by turning right... but I was on to them and did a ue and chased them down.
At Thames we had a beer at the Kopu pub then headed off around the other side of the bay, and eventually found BBs place in south dorkers. I must say the road into Clevedon was good value.
The rest of the trip will be in another 2 instalments to come
1) the band in Picton
2) Picton
3) waiting for the ferry
4) The Taka's
5) same
6) PaulNZ giving it the beans down
