Bulldog vs car today on Triangle road Aug 12th

Hey everyone, wanted to share my experience from today. I was cruising along triangle road when approaching the intersection of West Park Ave and this numbnuts turns into the road without even looking up the road towards me. I tried to stop although it was wet and I was backing it in like the super motard maniac I'd love to be. I managed to launch myself over his bonnet avoiding major injury although the pore DRZ Super moto is worse for wear. THis is the best part...this guy pulls over in the side road and continues up the road. Picks his family up from church and comes back down to see me albeit 5-10 minutes later. I had 4 witnesses stop and help me out which was great. The guy starts abusing one of the witnesses calling him a parlungi (spelling) and all hell broke loose...I thought there was going to be a massive brawl all the while I'm bruised and battered and in shock! It was a very surreal experience.

All I can really say out of this is please please please everyone wear good gear as I bought myself some awesome Clover cordura (spelling again) two piece kit with built in armour everywhere and it truly saved my ass today. My gloves held out and my arai helmet withstood sliding along the road. NICE.

Thanks to my witnesses and the police and ambos who turned up this guys is being charged with careless driving causing injury which is pretty major. He had no insurance and not once asked if I was ok etc.

    CHeck out the pics...

Good that your ok , sorry to hear about your crash though

He was only charged with careless? Nothing about driving off or checking to see if you were ok? That really sucks !!
Driving off to collect the family from church was more important to this clown than the damage he had done? What a wanker he is .

sounds like you did super well to walk away after a bonnet-superman type flight over the car...
hope you get the bike sorted ok. it's very hard to understand the driver's behaviour afterward. lucky someone didn't pop him. pity they didn't...

Sorry to hear about your "accident".

I'd be enquiring of the Police if charges for leaving the scene and not establishing you were ok will be placed for sure!

Oh, palangi is Samoan for pakeha, which rather indentifies your church-goer's nationality.

Hope you're insured and let us know how the healing goes eh.

I'll keep you posted on the charges. It was definately something I raised to the cops. I've got full insurance thankfully. I couldn't beleive one of the witnesses and this guy were about to smash each other. Craziness.

Pleased to hear you're okay. That's the main thing what with all of the recent RIP's
Bikes can be replaced, people can't.

    Hi Bulldog,

Although that Arai looks to have visor-only damage it will be munted for sure. Make sure to tell the p'lice and your insurance company.

Oh cool Speedie. Yeah my mate on his KTM is a bit of a wheelie king Hey we quite often hit Motomail on the weekend for a coffee and shoot the breeze. Next time we'll both say hi

Yeah it's a bugger and I was almost home. Riding bikes is a numbers game, the more you do it the more you're likely to have a crash. Still can't believe people don't look properly at intersections. I always assume people haven't seen me on the road and I'm guessing that saved me as I was waiting for this guy to pull out as he hadn't given me eye contact yet.

I guess the positive side of things is if insurance pays out I get to buy some new kit

That sucks, bull! Glad you're alright tho...

Church-goer, Islamic terrorist, Satanist or atheist; chinese, samoan, european or ugandan, there's no excuse for such behaviour. I hope he gets the book thrown at him, hard!

On the other hand, "backing it in hard like the super motard maniac I love to be", almost definitely added to your inability to stop in time. Not being seen and people turning into your lane is a part of road riding, and something you might want to consider in your riding style.

Hope insurance comes to the party!
