Was the DT175 premix? I thought trail Yamahas of that era had oil pumps? I know my mates Dt175 of earlier vintage, as well as my 180 Yamaha of similar vintage did.

i have taken the oiler off as it was getting to much oil was told to use around 40:1 . But thought someone out there might no.Cheers
from my experiance I've found that more oil is a hell of a lot safer than less oil and can get good power gains , probably due to better ring seal and losing less compression . People genraly think less oil means more power but on my RS125 I found the best power at 20 to 1 mix but ran it at 25 as 20 meant having to remove the head after each race to wipe of the oil residue and I couldn't be arsed doing this( it took two whole min ) 50 to 1 lost around four hp.
THE GREATEST ACHIEVEMENTS ARE FOUND OUTSIDE OUR COMFORT ZONE
I'd go with 25:1 as a safe and reasonably clean burn.
