Aprilia RSV Mille

Hi,

I'm looking for something to replace my ZX7R in the next few weeks and have my eye on a 2000 model RSV Mille (not the R).

Never looked at an Aprilia before so don't know what to expect. I'm going to go hunt for one to test ride on the weekend (saw one in Mt Eden motorcylces, although its a bit more then I want to spend...but you never know).

I've never riden a V-Twin before so could be an experience.

Basically I wouldn't mind peoples opinion about the bike...good, bad, ugly. I saw the thread on maintenance and got a good idea about there reliability and such...but want to know how they ride, corner, acceleration, pull wheelies, stoppies...and basically everything about the bike...I want to do my research before I go look at one...

That one is a good sounding & looking bike , with the Ohlins in the back will be even better . Offer him 9k
Sold my GSXR K3 1000 with Ohlins Shock Steering damper Braided Line K6 Radial master cylinder K/N , Tre Unit the list goes on to Buy my RSVR & have never looked back May not be quite as quick along the straights but leaves the K3 for Dead in the coners & lets face it that is where it counts .

That does look a good deal, I covered 45000km's on my 2000R and it was an awesome road bike, went bloody well and no major issues with her.Good luck with what you decide.Oh & what Sensei said

I've ridden one that vintage.

I was rather surprised by the power delivery - compared to most V-twins I've ridden it was quite abrupt and harsh - I remember my comments at the time were that it was a Daytona 675 that'd been raped by a TL1000S! Fuel injection probably a bit on/off, as it was a bit snatchy.

Definitely not wanting in power, and handled pretty damn good too. A lot better than a TL1000S... and yes they wheelie nicely - just pull the throttle back and continue twisting to control height

sweet...thats one of the few complaints I had with the ZX7R...had to clutch it to lift the front (in 1st)...no matter what I did.

I've pretty much decided to get it I think, as long as the test ride goes well...just waiting to hear back from the guy now (had to email as there was no phone number on the advert).

Millies love doing power stands so make sure you give the steering head bearings a good feel to what your up for. My R had the ohlins sterring dampner on it which hid the stuffed steering head bearings ( I stuffed them as I bought it new) they put it down to water damage and replaced them under warranty - nice ! It wont take too long to get used to it though

Arrr! I've been looking at RSVs as well! Thought they had the appropriate snob factor, but just saw one in the carpark today, and quite afew other people getting them too... Maybe I'll stick with the RF!

Cheers for the heads up, whats the best way to check them? Guessing a forwards/back push pull and feel for play?

Yeah, they are starting to drop in price so us mere peasents can start to afford them

Just hope they don't keep dropping in price otherwise I'm getting one at the wrong time!!!

I don't think that they'll drop much further, the one your looking @ cost the poor sucker $27000 new, I paid $35000 (including muffler & chip) new in Dec 2001 for a 2000R as there was still no 01's in the country.

Yep that was me...

The new bike is FREAKIN' AWESOME! It's just sooooooo sexy!
I'm riding better after one week than I have ridden (on the gixxer) in the last 12 months. Man, that bike was a waste of a year

At this stage, the only thing that could get me off my Aprilia is for me to stop riding completely - I love it and won't ever go back
