I agree. From a practical confidence building perspective there is nothing
sexist about a girls only ride.

It is a good way for women to prep themselves for the mixed rides I reakon

KB is about encouraging and promoting motorcycle riding. If girl only rides
can get womens riding confidence up, then KB is achieving its goals.

and the guys can enjoy us in their rides without being anchors half an hour behind all the time

No its not FFS. It's a website. What, the girls are going to start a class action against guys organising a guys only ride? I think you've been watching too much TV.

Anyone should be allowed to organise whatever rides they want.
I will not be going on a girls only ride nor will I be taking my bike on an off road ride.

I feel like I'm diagonally parked in a parallel universe.

Yes, they are. They caused a huge stink last year (front pages, 1 & 3 News) about a Waikaremoana Fishing club bunkroom for men only (no partitions, no privacy). They took it to the Human Rights Commission for fucks sake.

You haven't been watching *enough* TV.

p.s. I am all *for* girls rides ... if *boys* rides are ok too ... they wouldn't be. As I said, women started this PC crap, now they should suffer through it like everyone else has to

Ah, you might not care Joni, but there's always one hairy-legged feminist who feels it's her right to complain, and then it's sexist and an important deal. But as we've just seen the reverse generates nothing but ridicule.

But as i said, us men are used to double standards

I don't really care if guys organise their own rides. I cant' or won't go on most of the rides myself, I do get freaked out by large numbers at the moment (until I get a faster bike) and I cant go on the 'faster, longer' rides, because I dont think I am quick enough, skilled enough and dont want to slow anyone down.

Why did we start a chicks ride in the first place:
    1) I thought the other alternative was a long ride (which apprently I was mistaken, because I never saw the thread).
    2) Our last 'chicks' ride was a huge success, we had been talking about it in the Biker Angels forum, and we thought it would be a good idea to do it again.
    3) The last chicks ride, we ended up with guys on it anyway.. which didnt in anyway spoil it.
    4) Because its freaken awesome to see a group of women riding together.... not something that you see very often.... and because of our different levels of skill etc, the only way we seem to come together is if we make a "chicks" ride for ourselves.

It wasnt meant to be a 'gender based' thing where we are all man haters, and want to slag men off. Like I said I like riding with guys, there are a number of KB men who have given me ALOT of support and help with my riding, I mean for godsake if it wasnt for UB I wouldnt even have a bike. I'm tired of all this...

We still have problems with this
As far as I am concerned KB is a Public Bike Forum not a "Club". If ya organising a ride for a particular group then you should be able to. End of story. Those that can not handle that need ta grow up and stop being so insecure.

Why should guys care really if the females want to organise a ride for females only, in reality its not a big deal some folks just have to make it one to get their opinion out there. Likewise who are these women that seem to care if guys want to organise a guys only ride.

I have seen a couple of comments that make me wonder are these folks, either gender are worried that if their girlfriends/wives/boyfriends/husbands/partners got out on a single sex ride they might what:
learn that there is more to life than mowing lawns/washing dishes?
decide that they to can have a life and friends?
    flip sexuality?

It seems to me in our overly PC world that any time one gender specific group wants to get together some one in the other group has to make a big fuss out of it. Guys, ladies get over it its not different than a night out with the boys/girls.

I for one would not want to go out with my partner if she wants a night out with the girls, it does her good.
Its not the destination that is important its the journey.

What's wrong with girl-only rides? No testosterone or penis envy. Nothing to prove in terms of the time taken to traverse the distance between departure point and arrival point. A way better safety record.

Maybe all group rides should be girl-only rides?
