What IS the problem with us chicks deciding to do a girls ride?
I went on Nickstas one last year and really enjoyed it...
Like I said back then, I ride with blokes all the time so its a nice change to ride with other women!
Plus its a chance to make new friends.

There is NOTHING sexist about it.

...and we stink. Is the reason that when I stop at the top of the hill, NO ONE takes any notice of my bike.... I am sure it has nothing to do with me riding a GN.

This is worse than the fall of the Roman empire and the time that naked slapper told what's his name to take a bite of her apple "no, no it's fine he wont mind, take a bite" .. yeah right bitch. You took us to the cleaners that time.

    From what I've read so far;
    1. someone let the Sheilas out of the kitchen?
    2. Then they taught them to ride!
    3. now they're getting all militant on us.

It's the apple thing all over again. Get back in the kitchen... and we want our rib back!

Indeed...We'll now know what they mean when they say "are you up for a ride this weekend?" they are obviously swingers! No doubt about it.

This got me thinking. Is organising a girl only ride in open forums going against the spirit of KB?
Or should they arrange these rides in secret, or go somewhere else to organise them?

    What do you think?

Last time this subject reared its head I pissed and moaned, flapped my wings expecting to change opinions.

All my feirce protestations acheived was to piss people off, some of who still have an unhealthy grudge against me.

So this time a little eloquence and hushed tones should preface my scribblings.

Angel bikers and girls only rides is patronising to women. Suggesting they are weak and feeble, incapable of mixing it with the boys and special in some way the men are not, otherwise men would also have their own forum to vent. A ride based on an 'ism' is illogical and usually not tolerated any where else in society, a ride based on race for instance would cause melt down on KB. Legislation exists to gaurd against Racism, Sexism, Ageism etc. and rightly so. Because of this situation some of us feel less than comfortable with the idealogical direction gender based riding is going. You do not have to agree with my assertions, but trying to understand would be a great sign of respect towards men.

I realise in practice 'girls only rides' are not only no big deal but historically always contain men. So be it, go forth and enjoy I wish you all well.

    Good post SPB.

However, as the attempts at organising women's rides are actually organised by the women themselves, your agument suggests that they are patronising themselves, which is illogical under any ideology.

Any attempt to persuade them not to patronise themselves, is by it's very nature, patronising.

There will always be differences between the sexes. Some women feel that they have a different group riding emphasis and style, to that encountered on male dominated rides, and will naturally want to socialise as a group. Does this suggest that they are weak or feeble? If you think so, then you are indeed patronising.

I appreciate the argument that the Sexism Pendulum has swung too far in today's politically correct society, but you cannot argue or legislate against normal social bonding and interaction.

Are you nuts? At the top of the page it says "A site for ALL NZ motorcyclists"!

Only if "naughty" things might happen... like doing 55 in a 50kmh area...

Unfortunately I had to vote "yes" in the poll since there didn't seem to be a "fu*k YEAH - go for it!!!" option.

Gixxer only rides, no 250cc rides, 250cc only rides, couples rides, ok so blokes only rides too, who cares? I say yea to anyone willing to even get off their couch and organise a ride in the first place! Sometimes the guys dont want us girls along and just want time out with the 'boys' on their rides, fine by me Im happy to stay home and do my own thing. Not so insecure that I ever feel left out, I'll just go ride my own bike anyways. The point is encouraging, in this example, girls to connect with each other and enjoy being girls out together on bikes. Stag nights are for the boys, hens nights are for the girls, all these catogories form the variety of dynamics that is our society. And besides, Im sure there are bystanders out there that would enjoy seeing a bunch of girls pulling up together on hot bikes.
