Quit digging up old threads thox
i know this thread is old, but i just wanted to point out another reason why the speed limit is stupid. in places like wellington, your'e locked into the city. if you stick to 70km/h maximum and avoid mototrways in doing so then there are only two ways to johnsonville- around makara. a pretty trecherous road, escpecially with sheep trucks wizzing round corners. the other being through wilton. once you get to johnsonville, then you're stuck and the only thing to do is come back. when i get my learners i'm definatly going to ignore the rule
Voltaire - on his deathbed to a priest asking that he renounce Satan
- Now, now my good man, this is no time for making enemies.
Have a look at my threads about dispensation - LTNZ actually dont want learners riding on motorways at 70 and are open to give dispensation from this as they know that it is not safe.
I got mine a few weeks ago no issues at all.
never did the 70 thing on my learners however I did have the L plate, had a few cops follow me on the motorway doing 100 and never pulled me over.
Once i did 120 past a cop (goign tho other way) man was i crapping myself.
down south last year... one hell of a side wind that would put a slow moving vehicle into the ditch. kicking along at about 110k... heard sirens in my head [happens sometimes] and looked in my mirror. couple of cars. kept on going, and checked again. one car a bit closer... hmmm... funny looking paint. check again... hmmm... i see lights on top. keep going at same speed. cop catches up, overtakes, looks at me while overtaking and just keeps on going. LOL. could have easily been busted there, but the wind was that strong... i very nearly gave up trying to go anywhere.

the really happy person is one who can enjoy the scenery when on a detour.
I always thought the rule was in mph as it was made so long ago lol
