Plus, the cars around you can't see it, so will not think they can intimidate you as a newbie.
Um, according to this: http://www.landtransport.govt.nz/factsheets/28.html it needs to be attached to the rear number plate.

    5. When you're riding, you must always have a learner ('L') plate attached to your motorcycle's rear number plate.
I guess it doesn't say which side

WOOOOOT!!! Did the practical part of my 6L tonight, theory tomorrow arvo and im set to go pick up my new toy....WOOT!!!

I asked the "tester" dude tonight about doing 70Km\h on the open road and he agreed with everyone here. Ignore that BS rule and travel at the same speed as the traffic.

    Thank God for that

Don't think I could bare 360Km/h ride from Auckland to New Plymouth at that speed lol.

haha seriously had to lol at this one.

You said 360km/h instead of 360km. The veyron is one of only a few road legal cars that could do 360km/h. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bugatti_Veyron_16.4

Hey Boob did you do the lesson before hand or just the BH Certificate part. I am booked in for one of those 3 hours Basic Handling classes which does 3 hour revision then test and have now also had one of the guys at the bike shop offer me the test only. What did you do?

*bangs head on ground repeatedly* lol

Raven Feeder: na mate I just booked in the test, jumped on their crappy lil bike and did what he told me to do. Aced it no drama

Poor bastard before me got failed. He was about 15 & hadn't quite got to grips with the clutch, over revving without engaging etc. So it was good to go straight after such a terrible rider, made me look better he he.

In saying that its not hard, only 6 things you need to do. And the max speed I got to during the entire thing was 30Km/h lol. Hardly pushing it.

    1) dodge the cones

    2) ride slowly between two narrow white lines

    3) stop in a small square (but only doing 20Km/h at the time lol so not hard)

    4) stop at random (he raises his hand) and you have to brake quickly and safely

    5) corning/indicating (make sure you start to indicate 3 seconds before the turn)

    6) then corning and brake in the middle of said corner

Bloody easy, just take your time, don't rush it and concentrate. Remember they don't expect you to be Mick Doohan (nor wish you to be )

    Good luck mate

Yeah good idea, although its only $40 to do the test so keep that in mind.

Just got back from the AA 5 mins ago, passed my theory so im now offically allowed to ride....WOOT!!!

Got one question wrong and it was a bloody stupidly easy one (I was rushing a bit towards the end).

Two cars at at an intersection, one is at a stop sign, the other driving straight through and I said the car driving straight through should give way lol.

    Can't believe I did that

    NM, all good now

When I was on my learners I was stopped by a nice policeman and given a ticket for doing 63 in a 50. I asked him about the 70 km/h rule at the time and he just said that I should ignore the rule and travel at the speed of the traffic flow. He didn't say anything about the fact my L plate was about the size of a credit card either
