    My first ride

Just got back from my first ride...scary but a little exhilarating - only a little because I'm an old dog learning a new trick! Went out for 1/2hour, no cars (good), dark (bad) - went to Lloyd Elsmore and there are very few lights.

However, perseverance pays so will be out there tomorrow getting used to my bike (she is a beauty!).

Congratulations and Good on you for gettign up early to avoid the traffic. The scary bit will of course decrease with practice. KB is a good place to get advice and I got some here when I started riding.....

Yay! Riding in the early morning is lovely at this time of year - gets light early and not too hot in all your new gear.

Congratulations on your first ride! I had mine in November. I ride every day now (commute to work) but the buzz hasn't worn off yet.

Well Done you, I've been riding now 8 months & I commute every weekday from Howick to Newmarket (AKL). I still love it (I've even cashed in my Works Car park space, thats $7 a day Im saving together with the 20c /km).

I've worked out that I've done 2000kms (I did have 2 long holidays) but I've saved $320 + on petrol alone.

In my limited experience I have found Auckland Commuters to be quite forgiving to us Riders - I know some havent found this but be careful & keep your witts about you & you'll come good.
