Free Book "Long Way Round"

In January LtKilgore made an offer of a free book: "Long Way Round" by Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman. I was the lucky recipient of that book, and now that I and Stromfrau have both read it, I'd like to pass it on to some other worthy reader.

So, the first KBer to respond who would like to read this book may now have it.

This book is one of the best motorcycle adventure stories I have ever read. It is far better than the TV series.

I've read it too...it's a fine read. But you guys had better hurry up or you'll have two books to read. Ewan and Charley are doing "Long Way Down" from John O Groats to Cape Town, starting in May and the usual goodies (TV Series, DVD and book) should be out by the end of the year.

As I saw the TV series when it was first shown in the UK, obviously I got to see that before reading the book.

I think doing it that way round (no pun intended), ie get hold of the DVD and then read the book, is a good way to do it. Obviously, when you're reducing 115 days and 20,000 miles down to six or seven hours of TV (less advertising), you have to lose a chunk of detail. Which the book fills in.

So watch the DVD, get inspired, go for a (very) long ride and then settle down with a cuppa and read more about it... and probably go for another ride again!

Or worse, find an 1150GS Adventure on TradeMe and splurge $18,000 on it when you already have a Busa in the garage. Then convince your other half to pillion with you on (sometimes terrifying) off road adventures like the Managatapu. And help you pick the thing up cos it weighs half a ton.
