    A few two-stroke questions

    Hey guys

Just recently got me an RGV150 (loving the smell & sound of it!)

Was just wondering what type/brand of 2 stoke oil i should be buying for it. And whats the best spark plug?

Also what gearbox/clutch fluids should i get. Im pretty sure its due for a good service which i dont mind doing myself.

Also i noticed that after a good run and i park her up she drips a little bit of oil from a long tube at the bottom of the engine - must be an overflow tube or something. Not sure where it goes to because when i was tracing it it came off!! Crap! What do you guys reakon its from?

    Any help would be great!

    Cheers

I reckon fully synthetic oil, a cheap one is fine, i got mine from the wharehouse. Get irrdium or platinum plugs (whichever one is more expensive) they make a huge different. As for the pipe, a slight dripping of oil is normal have a look for a white plastic bubble looking thing with small plastic pipes exiting from both ends that is where the pipe goes to (i think)

i'd put in good quality oil, but I don't know anything.
Then I could get a Kb Tshirt, move to Timaru and become a full time crossdressing faggot

Yep - fully synth for the 2T oil.

For the Gearbox I just did a change on my wife's RG150 and used SAE 80W oil (really thick) but apparently you don't need to be too precious as they are robust little gearboxes.

Which reminds me that I must go and buy a spark plug.....

Just use the factory plug Jono. Not sure if yours uses the same plug as the
watercooled RG , if so B8ES or you can use a BR8EQ (what im currently using) , dont bother with the irdium or platinum.

    Wrong!
I had standard plug when I first got my rg then swapped over to the irdium plugs and it makes a huge difference, it just revs out heaps easier and doesn't get fouled as easily its worth the extra money.

Why do you buy them a box at a time? If i may assume, i assume it is becaue you keep going through them like I did when I used normal plugs. After I swapped to the irdium it never fouled and the bike ran heaps better.

For racing I use Shell Advance Fully Synthetic - $17/L

For normal road riding I use Valvoline 'racing two stroke' - $10/L @ Supercheap Autos.

The main thing is let that motor warm up properly Before you start thrashing it!

If your going through a plug every two weeks, theirs something wrong with you engine setup.

Apparently auto transmission fluid or diesel engine oil can be used in your motorbike gearbox. I've used both with No problems.

Use a fully synthetic 2 stroke oil
Shell out on a decent one, your engine will love you for it..
I use castrol TTS - 28bucks a litre - from super cheap auto or cycletreads..
as for spark plugs you want to use the right one, using different ones may make a difference to the performance, but for instance using an 8 may be good for around town (less likely to fowl) but use it on the open road and it may get so hot it melts your piston...
Your local suzuki dealer has a book saying what plug is right for your bike .
Confident the aprilia rsv4, IS the one
