poll: have you ever found yourself overtaking a line of cars doing >150k on your thou

My KR-1S is quite good at overtaking coza the sudden burst of power. It can't *really* go faster than 160kph I've found so that's my max overtaking speed. I'm getting a little worried about taking it back in forth between Wellington and Hawkes Bay tho... Time for a bigger bike I think.

A KR1s Should eat 160ks, it should max out around 200-210ish

Riding the SV, I exceed that speed frequently when I overtake a line of cars.
Because I also aim to spend the shortest time possible in the wrong lane.

The reason I got the SV is coz I used to go far too fast when overtaking on the Gixxer thou. Although that time in the other lane was alot lot less.

Won't say, for fear that it may incriminate me! But will say, I've been two up with carrier pack in the gravel under power on the wrong side of the road through over-taking a line when a car from the mid-pack decided to pull out and take on the rest of the line (without looking obviously). I got him / he didn't get me! Luckily, I'd done it on a long straight with no oncoming. Oh and those were the days when they didn't grade angles down off the side of the roads! I would have been totally farqued if they did! Guess it didn't help in keeping that girlfriend either!

Not on a thou, but when I got the BMW F650CS, I pulled out to overtake a line of cars and trucks the first week I had it and was used to the RG150 in-and-out-and-up-and-down-the-gears method. Got past ALL the traffic in one manoeuvre and glanced down at the speedo... whoops, 170! I had a lot more respect for the bike after that, I wasn't used to rolling on the throttle and anything much happening!

Trust me, it doesn't happen that way on the Goose...!

Well I have to say that my partners VTR is certainly great at passing.
The power is certainly there to get you back in the right lane quicker.

We frequently pass long lines of cars on our many trips. Cant say I have ever bothered to look at the speedo. More interested in passing with ease and watching those damn stupid people in cages.

I guess our speed sometimes may exceed the speed limit by just a weee bit when we pass on a long straight with nothing coming the other way.

I know someone who regularly pass above 140km/hr on a 250 and if particularly long line of cars 150+.... if they had a 1ltr bike they'd frequently be doing more that that I'm sure...

I also find myself say the 3rd bike back, a few cars back, I get on the gas before the biggerbikes in front of me, so I can stick with them when they do decide to go

150? Considering that from 90k, a 1000 will hit 140+ before the front wheel clears ONE car in a top gear roll on, from a following distance of under two seconds.... well DU-UH!

I tend to find if you position yourself in the view of the cars side mirror with your lights blinding them, must will pull over to let you by. Others wont cause they're either blind, dumb, ignorant or all of the above, thats when you pull up beside them, chop it back and make them deaf aswell.

Hell, even if its just two cars and I drop a couple of cogs and gas it I'm doin over 150Km/h when I pass them. Your speed depends on how many cars/trucks in the line and whether you keep it pinned or not.
I was flying passed a long line once and unbeknown to me there was a copper amongst the cages. They didn't even bother to chase.
But I always make sure there is 100m of clear road ahead when passing maneuver is completed

I don't want to say on here what speeds I do. Nothing illegal of course.

It pays to exercise caution when passing a row of cars with their brain dead drivers.

When passing a truck and trailer unit though the Hornet would reach speeds that make som of those mentioned here seem just a little ummmm modest(?).
