Just wondering how many of you acknowledge another biker when coming up to the lights. I often say hey or just give a friendly nod. But when my girl is ridding pillion and i come up next to another bikie with a female pillion it instanly turns into a knitting convention and i have to pull away before they can finish theirin depth conversation

Had a scooter rider enthusiastically wave to me last night... felt so sorry for him, I waved back. Little man was riding on the state highway on the left doing about 50kph.... I hope he got to his destination alright.

I usually nod to other bikers.... wave if I see them in time, and I sometimes beep my horn if they are on the side of the road. Get a little peeved if they dont do anything back, but it might be cause I am on a GN.

Harley/Cruiser riders often won't wave. Its a culture thing. Often a biker won't nod/wave just because they didn't know you were supposed too.

I was thinking of doing a bit of a tour on a scooter... would be fun... (not as much fun as the big bike... just something different)

We use to have scooter runs in Napier that you weren't allowed to turn up on your regular bike and only allowed on a scooter. Those that couldn't find a scooter in time got hassled by the scooter riders (as they weren't allowed to take the lead) by us riding up along side them and flicking the kill switch...

    Was all in fun

I'm a nodder (or a noddy, who knows), I used to be a waver, till nearly canning it once.... must remember to keep hands on the bars when on a corner..

It's certainly a fraternity thing, makes you feel so good to get acknowledgement from other riders, especially if you're cruising on your own

I got a wave from a Harley Davidson rider, mid-corner, while I was in a car. Honest!

What I'd like to know is, how do I wave with my left arm in a sling?

Do what I do in those situations - pull your clutch in so you don't slow down too much and then wave.

Seriously, who gives a fat rats arse???

I have to grudgingly admit that I have studied the waving vs non-waving thing and come to the conclusion that the lack of waving is more related to the frequency (or or lack of) approaching bikes.

Lots of bikes = not many waves

Few bikes = a wave from all of them.

Why not wave with your left hand?

I wave at everything. I do lots of waving if any of my passing of cars is a little dodgy. The kinda wave that says "please don't dial *555".

Wave mostly when I can ie not if busy on a corner or in really heavy traffic. Will try and nod in these cases. Nice to get one back, and most do seem to come back.

And I wave at cars that pull over to let me past
