Simple, don't ride like an idiot, move with the flow of traffic, watch the road around you, predict what other motorists are going to do and make sure you're not in their path when they do it.

The ones you couldn't possibly have predicted are the ones who are gonna get you bad, that's what really scares me when I stop to think about it.

I've had a few motorists do silly things near me on the roads and a few who tried to antagonise me because I was being cautious moving out of a T-intersection, but you learn not to let it rile you. Tey're fucktards, and getting angry just spoils your day and can distract you enough that you really end up having an accident.

Agreed. Whats with all the money spent for example by the ACC on their latest ad run, when its a compulsory thing anyway...

Wouldn't that money be better spent doing something like a bike awareness campaign... would reduce ACC payouts too...

I went down to Papakura today to get some red rooster (yay for getting bottles with your combo, no need for cup holders!) and happily, on my way back I stop at a roundabout going up to alfriston.. I see this dude going into the round about not indicating - I assume he's just going straight and that I have the right-of-way, but I was cautious - and sure enough he swings around and I put on the brakes (not hard, I had ample room to breathe from the assumption that everyone on the road is ready to kill me).

Must be a Papakura thing as someone did that to me at a roundabout recently but being the clever awake, aware rider that I am I stopped in plenty of time. I thought about it for a bit thinking to myself "let it go just let it go" but then I thought "they will never learn unless taught" so I chased the car and punched the mirror so hopefully they will be more aware next time
Five year olds in pedal cars need to learn like everyone else.
I'm one of the worlds best riders. I can wheelie, I can stoppie, I can stunt, hell I can get my shoulder down. I could keep up with Rossie if I wanted to race.

Then I go from bed to bike and somehow it all turns to crap.

there certainly are some fat bastards....I mean, angry people here.

There was road rage yesterday on the Hutt motorway near Melling lights.
Dunno why, but 2 guys hop out of thier respective cars at the lights and start smacking each other around the head.

FINE. This is the word women use to end an argument when they are right and you need to shut up.

had a beauty the other day - 3 of us where shootin down kakariki rd from marton through to feilding, rounded a bend, im in the lead and i saw this f*ck-knuckle about 150m ahead in a civic (with his entire family in the car, i might add), pulling out from the right side of the road heading the same direction as us....now, he must have seen us, all had lights on and two of the bikes are twin headlight models, bright sunny day, no excuses.....i anticipated him cos i've been riding a while and i'm generally ready for MiC's (morons in cages) , so i swung into the wrong lane and bowled up next to him braking hard....flipped up the visor and (his window was down) proceeded to unload with a machine gun fire of ass-ripping expletives.....but me two mates were shooting up behind me so i had to drift past him and let the other 2 go.....then...and this was the best fun i've had in ages .....i stayed in the wrong lane (decent straight ahead of me so no worries) and waved the guy in the car back up next to me!! and when he got next to me i unloaded with another deluge of abuse that my grandfather (a coal mining scot from musselburgh) would have been proud of
the most annoying thing was, I'm sure he looked staright at us and thought " i've already started moving and they'll slow down in time" - he had two young girls in the back and wife as well in a fekkin 1300cc PoS cage.....just f*cked me off immensely.... just out and out laziness....

A few weeks ago we were shooting through Riverhead at about 10am, round a tight 35km corner, on with the gas into the straight and over the rise. There in the middle of the road about 100 meters away was a car load of mountain bikers reversing, I s’pose they had missed their turn off.

I hit the stoppers hard and in my fury at their ignorance and total disregard for the safety of others I was prompted to waggle my index finger in their direction as I cruised carefully past. In hindsight I should have lowered my eyebrows as well. That would've shown them.

My 2 cents: we meet twats, plonkers, imbeciles, oxygen theives etc in all area's of our lives, so why should the road be any different? The sooner we accept that fact the sooner we can move on.
You wanna get physical with another road user or his/her vehicle? Be prepared to recieve the same treatment.
