    Bike shops and silicone

Just had my bike service at TSS.

Not knocking them cause they do a great job but i had painstakingly cleaned, buffed and polished my TDM after the trackday on sunday, picked it up after the service and it had silicone spray EVERYWHERE. just spent the last twenty minutes out in the garage rubbing it off. Leaves smears all over the lovely polished paintwork, makes the seat really slippy and dulls the headlight.

Next time I will specifically ask them not to do this.

Now I know other motorcycle shops do this too. Whats the logic behind it? You bike looks great in the shop but as soon as the sun shows the smears and dust sticks to it, it looks like a streaky window.
The real mystery is how come that fat bastard Hurley has never lost any weight.

I silicone mine after a good clean. Especially if you have any faded areas.
    Has anyone seen my baffles?

No faded areas on mine. I use a scratch and swirl remover

Nice easy way to give a bike a quick groom, so long as you wipe it down afterwards, or as you found out, turns into a real shit magnet. They do it with the best of intentions but it's probably easier to ask that they don't.
I used to have a Scottoiler on a bike of mine. Had it set bang on, nicely lubed chained with no fling off. Take to the shop for a service and I'd get it back with this shit sprayed all over the chain Only had to say and prob stopped.
