You be careful mate it's pretty windy out there.

I just rode down to Kilbirnie Aquatic Centre (for my morning swim) and back and it was getting pretty Yuk & it's meant to get worse. Wind chill factor of minus 6!

I just got in about 10 minutes ago, riding from Upper Hutt to Wellington.

Quite a strong headwind, as expected, probably 70-80km/h, gusting a bit higher in places.

The wind was getting pretty strong and getting under the fairing, something I hadn't had too many times before. It seemed like it might have been picking the bike up a bit; maybe it was just my imagination, but the front wheel was definitely feeling lighter, and the wind cutting from side to side was giving the bike a tiny bit of headshake, easy countered.

As for the cold, I didn't feel it at all. My wet weather gear is warm.

It's supposed to get a lot stronger tonight, but at least the wind will be at my back then.
And I to my motorcycle parked like the soul of the junkyard. Restored, a bicycle fleshed with power, and tore off. Up Highway 106 continually drunk on the wind in my mouth. Wringing the handlebar for speed, wild to be wreckage forever.

I have to walk up the hill to University for a 5pm lecture and it just started hailing.

    Bugger.

Driving in the CAR on the way home at about 4:20, coming past the Ferry Terminal and there was sleet on the windscreen, didn't last long but it was there. Sheesh its cold, I wonder how Matthew got home going home without any wet weather gear? He's from Chch so is used to this paltry weather.

Hmmmmmmm...I don't finish work until 7, I hope my bike hasn't blown over! It's gonna be an interesting ride home! I don't think I'll be taking my normal route around Oriental Bay.

    Brrr, what was that!!!

Shit yeah it's ccold, I've had my fire going since about 17:30, full blast, and it's still cold in my house! And, earlier on, I looked out the window, and there was an odd, saucer shaped object on top of my garage roof! Went out to look, and it was a bloody heavy, water logged, rubber and foam table cover, which had caught wind, and flown from where it lived, to my roof! Luckily it landed safely, if it had hit a window, it would have become a permanent feature of the house!

Now, just gotta get used to the house shaking, and the roar of the wind rushing up through the fireplace chimney

The rimutakas look like an interesting ride, from the nightline footage! Might take it easy next time I'm up there, and keep an eye out for any ice
