Ben Townley has a fall in his heat race to finish 3rd. Lange wins and sets fastest lap time with Townley only a couple of thousandths of a second behind.

So he needs a couple of places in front of Morias to take it at Detroit in 2 weeks time ,even if he ties in points with the leader he'll win because of his 3 wins over morias's 2 2nd place best finishes.

Coppins has qualified 3rd fastest for tonights GP

if he wins he wins it even if Morias is second, if he is second or further back he need morias to be 2 places behind him, it will be interesting to see if he gets help from his team mate, it could be the difference

    Press Release:

    Date: 1 April 2007.

    Press release:

Ben Townley wins Supercross Lites nail biter in Dallas.

Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/ Kawasaki’s Ben Townley has pulled off his 3rd Supercross Lites win of the season, this time at a slightly muddy Texas stadium in Dallas.

Townley’s blinding start saw him grab the Progressive hole-shot award however a wide line before an on-off obstacle saw both Kawasaki team-mate Darcy Lange and Ryan Dungey slip by the Kiwi. The former MX2 world champ, immediately realized his mistake and changed his racing line, upping his pace and corner speed. Around the halfway mark, ‘BT’ intuitively went wide after the finish line to capitalized on a mistake by Dungey. He sailed past both Dungey and Lange in the same move and controlled the rest of the race to the checkered flag.

“Mission accomplished,” stated Townley. “ I had quite a bit of fun tonight and am really pumped with my hole-shot. It’s been a long time since I have felt this good on a bike. I feel like I have turned a bit of a corner in my riding - my whole package feels like it came together tonight.”

Townley has succeeded in closing down the deficit to 3 points over championship leader Ryan Morais. Riders and teams will enjoy a well deserved break in the calendar before the championship decider will take place in Detroit, Michigan on the 21 April.

Its exclellent to have the result open going into the final moto.

Would have been better still to have BT clear by 25 points!
