The Bike magazine for Jan 07 has a 1 page review of a Lightning XB12Scg which has an inch taken from the seat and another inch or so from the suspension for the vertically challenged. The sg stands for centre of gravity apparently. Also liked your report Paul.

up to 230 on mine so far (XB12R racekitted), and it was still pulling (that was about 6300rpm, redline is 7000) .... but I was getting scared

Only been up to 180k's on mine to date.......Afterall it's the torque in the lower gears that impressed me, not the top speed. Good if you need to get away from the feds but you also need a death wish for that. You run out of road pretty quick. 0 -100 is rather quick though. ( not sure of exact spec )

mines a nz import, november 2006, with 5000k on the clock when bought.....12,000 cash. Hard to believe in 4 years it only did 5000kms, but original papers state most of it's life was spent on the showroom floor. Has had race kit and exhaust installed, just replaced top end gaskets with metal ones two weeks age as it developed a small leak....covered by warranty.

I definitely enjoyed my spin on the Buell up in Waikanae. If most of my riding consisted of blasting up and down the Rimutaka Hill, I'd have one. Especially if I had another track bike to get my "rev it till it screams" thrills. Quite an eye opener and I reckon owning one would improve my riding.
