Did a ride from Wellington to Stokes a few weeks back at around 9pm.
On arriving at home I spent the next 5 minutes picking dead and dying beetles off my gear

Also the fattest and juiciest moth I've even seen had face planted into the centre of my headlight.

I rode for half an hour like that, and was wondering why it had gone so dark.

Indeed they did...wouldnt let me near it in case I dirtied it again...I'm surprised they let me ride away on it! They gave me the "a bike is for life, not just for chrstmas" look and I promised to up the tlc effort, otherwise I'm certain I would have lost me bike.

Not a bad effort, but I think you need to diversify a bit. A smattering of damselflies, a wasp, a bumblebee, possibly a butterfly or a moth or two, and a couple of cicadas would round the collection off nicely.

There's some beauties on there mate. I especially love the ones rammed into the vents, how many of the blighters make in into the helmet??? A good effort...the engineering side of me starts to come out now thinking of some way we can grid the visor to take an average for some form of rating system. :spudbn:

That effort was after 3 seperate cleans on the way to Nelson last clean-up was at Springs Junction What ever the sod in the middle was it spread like oil before setting

Worst I've struck was what I think was a Hu Hu (sp?) beetle late at night when it hit it sound like a .22 shot in side my helmet & spread like an egg over the visor emergency stop to clean the mess up

    lols a rating system coverage/density/composition
