    Nasty Storm in West Auckland

Anyone else out west hear that almighty thunder clap that went for about 30 seconds just earlier?

I was standing on the porch and the whole house rattled, then the whole sky lit up in a brilliant purple..........then you could hear this ever increasing rumble as the wind and rain approached. Was quite spectacular

    Goddammit.

I was sitting, oblivious, in the West City cinemas, watching The Departed.

I drive home, the lights on Don Buck Rd are out, trees lying around on the ground and it's all over.

    I always miss the fun.

    Good movie, though.

Im in Mt Wellington and I heard that from my place. Fucking bastard of a wind blew all my washing off the line too (which had to be collected from the neighbours yard before going to work).

This also means I have completed my scientific reasearch into weather patterns: If I hang my washing out it will rain, If I hang my work gears out it will piss down and if I hang something I need the next day it will blow a gale and snow.

shinin here too.. glorious (albeit a little chilly) mornin..

But, I wake up and go out to see UTTER DEVASTATION!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is gonna cost me literally $10's to fix.. No idea how I'm going to cope, I've not a lot left in my bank, I don't know if I can afford the excess on the house insurance, the months of hanging around waiting for quotes and builders etc.. DAMN YOU STOOOOOOORM!!!!!

    No.
But we had a lightning strike that must've been relatively close to the house, because the flash and boom were contemporaneous, and instead of the normal rumble, it was a very sharp, very loud crack, that made us all go "Waah!!" or "Phark!!" or whatever. Set the car alarm off too (and the car was inside the gargre), made the sound go off on the home theatre system, and the TV ended up with the lower-left and upper-right corners green. Had to reset everything. Lucky nothing in the house blew up, as the house is wired up with sound, phone and computer cables everywhere and no surge protectors. Ooops....
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....
