Insurance woes

Hi there is there anyone out there that can assist me with recommendations for insurance on my 2005 bandit. I went to my local insurance co and had it insured only to find out that fo 8K cover it was going to cost me $90.00 month. Is there a specialist insurance co that does not require me to deposit part of my reproductive organs.

Any help greatly appreciated

Do a search and there is heaps of info but alot of the guys on here use www.kiwibike.co.nz they are good, I even used them once as leverage to screw my insurance company down

If you are over 30, then ClassicCover is a good bet.

PM Jetboy, Tim works for John Baker Ins and gave me equal best quote with Classic Cover. If you're over 30, Classic are hard to beat, but Tim may be able to at least match them. Both were about $200 cheaper than Kiwibike.

Which really just goes to show that the best bet is to shop around. My recent enquries have shown almost the opposite for my quote (prompted by my current insurer not returning my calls to take my money!!!). Guess it all depends on the companies risk profiles for different bikes and riders........

Appreciate your point, my age and style of bike are probably pretty attractive to Insurers, though Tim is trying to drum up business with KB'rs at the mo, so still worth a call.

Swann insurance through Kiwibike brokers.
Bandit 1200. sole rider. $504. per year
Sum insured $8789
Basic excess $500
Theft excess $500.
A named second rider is about $80 extra (depending on age and experience)

Maybe mods could setup a "insurance" section as this question gets asked at least once a week.

kiwibike are good, well priced and easy to deal with.
star insurance recomended and will cover track days.
classic cover if you are over 30 and have had your full for 2 years.
Honda riders club are not too bad either.
There is a guy on here called "jetboy" send him a pm, everyone says he can do good deals.

oh and if your bike is over 1000cc you will pay more.

Not always. With Swann the SV650, insured for the same amount, cost the same as the Bandit. No idea why.

Thanks for all your help. As suggested I will start ringing around and see who has the best deal have it insured 3rd party in the mean time. Must try to stay vertical, or there abouts
