Ok which one of you far-norf types wants to explain this?

There is a small clue in the picture whereabouts this is, but a T-intersection in midair? This is crazy.

Why? Where does the other part go? & why was it so important they had to connect the road there?

A simple Darwin test, if you are going to fast to make the turn, you won't make the same mistake again

Yeah right...when did you make it to a destination unaided?

The pic is taken on a bridge...the road is Mangakahia rd that runs from Kaikohe through to near Whangarei.
The sign that you can see is for the road directly behind the photographer.
The "turn off" seen is approx. 10m long and goes to a rest area.

BTW...I've taken MANY KBers via this route....sometimes referred to as the "Middle rd" or "Twin Bridges"

Not really crazy, just a nice piece of engineering, and its not my rates paying for it, unless of course it is a state highway.

For the record Qkkid was in my bed, not the other way round

Yeah it just seemed like a waste of time & money for access to a picnic site. Kinda cool though.

Nice area to ride through & a welcome change. Fill up before & DON"T stop at Kaikohe. The pumps have pay before fill operating in the middle of the day, which while being a drag esp on a bike, is an indication of the populace. Depressing town.

Fortunately the other areas are quite decent people.

It's the Twin Bridges. If you go down the bridge, you get to a rest area, and you'll see part of another bridge that's been dismantled. And a little further up is all private property. That whole road is a fantastic ride.
Just beyond the horizon over there
