Just to prove you don't HAVE to fall off.....

Jervois Quay and Waterloo Quay have been grooved for re-surfacing. Lost the front in a particularly nasty set of deep grooves braking for an idiot trying to change lanes into my physical space. Saved the front by leaning on the car.

No damage to me or bike. Car has broken front passenger window (bar end) and dent in door (either knee or Oggy Knob).

Police chap behind me has dealt to the ticketing and charging process. Good man.

Especially the "no damage to you" bit and the appropriate incidental damage to the car. I hope the car driver got the learn.
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....

Nice one on all counts Jim - well done

My admiration for Wellington bikers and the general conditions they have to put up with, especially weather, knows no bounds after Saturday. We got off the ferry at around 1.30 pm on Saturday in the teeth of a howling gale. Coming down the fixed ramp onto the quay, there were several occasions when I thought I was going to get blown off the bike due to the gusts - quite frightening. Suppose you guys thought Saturday was a gentle breeze!

The behaviour of cagers up the Gorge was less than inspiring too and sure enough, there was an accident in the southbound lane.

    Cheers,

    Geoff

Hopefully the smashed window gave him/her a good scaring. Did you lean in and have a few words?

Well done on keeping the Z and self intact!

Didn't have to talk to the chump at all. Cop checked I was OK first and then read the riot act. Guy kep t arguing with the cop that I was speeding. Cop says, "I was right behind him and he wasn't speeding. I'm charging you with failing to indicate."

    Chump argues.

Cop says, "I also charging you with Careless Driving."

Chump argues. Cop walks over and says I can go and he'll do the paper work and charging process, doesn't need a statement, etc.

    Bye.

    haha sat that was nothing!
we were in town around 1pm as well, trick is to go on the old hutt rd rather than the motorway if there is really bad gusts.
Up high on those over passes by the ferry can be killer.

    Cool

So I wonder how many more charges the cop threw at him for arguing back at the cop?

Sometimes it doesnt pay to argue with the police.

Failing to indicate $150........ would have all the chump would have gotten.....
    Careless Driving $.........

Jim2 - glad to hear that you are ok and so is the bike.

Good that you are ok - great outcome. I was walking down that way on the weekend and commented to a friend - that I would hate to take a bike on that stuff - it was particularly messy!!

How wonderful to have a cop as a witness and not have to go through all the trials and tribulations of trying to prove you were the innocent party. A case of being in the right place (sort of!) at the right time. Glad the car and driver came off worse than you and the bike.

I remember coming down Ngauranga Gorge once and it was so windy I got to Petone and sheltered in the private box lobby at the mail centre! There were all sorts of things flying around in the air and my little RG150 didn't like it one bit!

lor'n'begorrah sirrah! That was a mighty fine save you pulled off there! Glad to hear you weren't pushed off and serendipitous how the ecilop was there as a witness to it all

I guess the driver was having a bad day and only making it worse! Quick thinking there and good skills to keep it all rubber side down

And yeah, hate those deep cut grooves whenever or where-ever they are!

Top effort mate, love the feeling after a little bumpy and getting to ride off with an intact bike and body.

That's a classic Jim. Nice to see that there are cops around when you need them.

Have a nice strong coffee and buy a lotto ticket.
