Hit 1000 km

Ok so I've ridden to my first benchmark 1000km's. So far I have learned....

1./ I spend too much money on gear.
2./ That's it.

Before ya know it 16 years will be under ya belt.. with thousands of kms on the clock.. & a smile on ya dial as wide as a cheshire cat!!

It only took me 7 years to do the 100,000kms...
I took some pics of the bike clocked at 99,999.9 and again at 00,000.0 out on Pine Valley Rd, near Orewa.
(not digi pic's so waiting to get them processed of prooof)

I brought it with 2800 on the clock and I did all the rest....... wohoooooooo!

Wouldn't be many riders that have done 100,000 km on the same bike. My sporty has done 80,000 and I'm determined to do 10 Brass Monkey's on the same bike so that should put it past that. 3500km a trip and four Monkeys to go. Someone has to stickup for the poor ole Hardley. I'm thinking of joining the Destiny church that may help.

At my current bike changing state, 100,000kms would take me 200 bikes.

hate to rain on the parade in all but that is less than 15000km per year or less than 300km per week. Go on a weekend ride every couple of weeks and that would take care of that. Let alone commuting. But doing it on the same bike is an achievement. I haven't kept a bike long enough to do 100,000 km on it. I brought the 600 at 75k and run it to 100. Was on the 4 points rally with meanie and mouse and stopped in the dark in the middle of no where to take a photo of the dash reading 000000.

i want to know how come there are so many late 90s bikes with less than 30,000k on them? There must be more weekend riders out there than I thought.

Back to original post. Yes it is good to roll over your first thousand without dropping your bike which you obviously haven't done otherwise you wouldn't be saying you spent too much on gear.

Yes good point, if it's your main mode of transport that is a normal sounding number. I've only been riding properly since November, and the learners restrictions prevent it being my main transport.

I agree, I have had my Hyosung for 36 weeks and done >22500km which equates to only 625km per week or 32500km per year. On that theory I should get to 100in July/August 2009 which is obviously 3 years

And yes there seems to lots of weekend riders out there and probably will be even more now daylight saving has finished

Parked next to another Transalp the other day... it was a 2005 and had only done 1900 km's! I had a moment to feel sorry for the poor under used bike!

My F650 clocked over to 100000 just before the rimutaka summit. I went on to do another 25000kms on it before the gear box lost 2nd and i sold it. It was spotted at the brass monkey not long after.
