Angry Bike stolen in the Wellington area (18 March)

On Sunday the 18th a colleague’s motorbike was stolen from Crofton Downs between 6.00 and 9.30 pm. It's a fairly distinctive 1985 DR250. Its a blue trail bike, fully road legal. It has a "full floater" sticker on the swing arm and another saying "Yeti racing" on the cowling (plastic bit around the headlight). If you happen to see it around town or on a bike stand anywhere, please give me a shout.
There is already a police report out on it, so hopefully something will turn up in the coming week or so.
    Cheers

    Stolen bike details

Hey folks, thanks for the interest... I've only just registered on the site, so had to jump through a few hoops before I could post.

The plate on the bike was 26YKC, although methinks that whoever took it is probably just going to rip the plate off it and thrash it up some hillside somewhere. Nothing else truely distinctive about the machine. Just a stock 85 model with the steel tank and mismatched clutch and brake levers.

Here's hoping something comes up soon. Failing that, I'll be walking from here on in.

    Thanks again.

Just a bit of lateral thinking, but if you have a bit of time and a photo, go to Welly south coast by the Red Rocks entrance, sit around, have a coffee and a smoke if so inclined and wait for the fisheries squad to come up. They're usually there at least once a day or more. Have a chat, give them a photo. I usually go there a few times a week, so I'll keep my eyes peeled.

Good thinking... it's a wee bit of a walk to get out there though! Hell, it's gotta be worth a try.

    Thanks again.

Don't bother walking out anywhere. Just park your car up at the gate before the first stream and wait. That's where the fisheries fellahs also usually wait. It's the only access point.

Gutting! Hope you get your bike back. Thieves should be dragged behind bikes on a chip seal road then given a nice salt bath.

Bloody tossers. Some arsehole tried to steal my husband's car yesterday afternoon. It's a 1984 Ford Laser that he uses for commuting and only paid $1000 for but he couldn't replace it for that. They stuck a screwdriver or something similar in both door locks but amazingly didn't manage to get in. Happened between 1.30pm and 5.30pm in a well-used area. It now has a steering lock on as I bet they will try again. Most likely they or someone they know owns one too and they want some parts off it as it's in good condition. Following the stripping, it would no doubt end up torched on Hokio Beach...
Yes, I am pedantic about spelling and grammar so get used to it!
