Thumbs up My first bike, soo addictive

    hello

i got my first ever bike to my mothers disgust, its a honda ct125e done up to bucket race. have always wanted to race and finally i'll get to race my very own bike.

since i've got it dad and i have sorted out a few little things like redirecting and lubing the clutch cable which made it so easy to use instead of the sensation of bending a steal rod , sorted out the rear brake so it actually works, made it so the gearbox works the right way, put on a number plate for racing, changed the brake fluid and a few other things.

in the last week i have learned so much about bike maintainence and how they work its amazing, ive seen the inside of the carb and how that works. i just love fidling with the bike.

hopefully in the near future we'll vent the rear drum and blow all the crap out of it, get a carb thats works properly because the 185 carb is playing up or rejet the old carb or something, get a new rear tyre because the tyre on it is waaaaaay to big for it and get a few different sprockets to change the gear ratios for different tracks.

last saturday dad and i took it out the back of puketapu and gave it a blat man best thing ive ever done, i love the corners. dad says i was going 80kph it felt faster than that!!!

the neighbors won't put up with it, much to my discust. who doesnt like the noise of a motor?

can't wait to get a road bike, then i will truely be free.

awesome to hear you are finding that passion, and kudos to your dad for helping out and being supportive! You got two wheels of freedom and it sounds like you're enjoying the ride - got gears?

    thanks guys

ive got a helmet now and ive got dads old leather jacket and pants, gloves and boots but it looks like i am goin to have to get some other gear because the jacket and pants are getting to small and the gloves probably won't help that much in a off.

You got the makings of a very good bucket there. Interesting muffler. You are right about the rear tyre - in fact the front looks the right size to go on the rear and fit a smaller front. On a track like Waipawa, it is all about quick turn-in. Q - why would you 'vent' the rear brake?
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

    hi

i am hoping to do something with the muffler on her because this one has practicaly no back pressure. maybe lengthen it then stick a dirtbike muffler on it. would that do the trick?

A retired mechanic said that you could vent (could have used a different word) the rear drum to help in some way, but if it wont do any thing i wont do it.

does it matter about putting a front tyre on the back? this tyre is a metzeler 3 inch. also next time i race, the cudbys are giving me the front end that was on it and theres another metzeler on the old front end.

do any of you guys know what to do about the head of the frame, it has been lengthened to be able to fit the new front end and there is a little bit of slack in it. just enough so the shocks can move a mm or two forwards and backwards.
