    Procycles Napier

To cut a long story short, I am interested in getting the new Triumph Tiger, done the research etc, all I needed to do is see one in the flesh. The aforementioned Triumph/Harley dealer in Onekawa has a white one in stock. So I had a look at it, poked it, stroked it, the usual. After a few minutes I was asked if I was ok. I asked if I could sit on it. `No, sorry, it`s brand new, we don`t allow people to sit on new bikes`. All the usual questions came to mind, but I was so amazed at the this reply, I shook my head, said thanks and walked out. Can someone explain how this logic works? or is it me? Says on Tardme that a Demo is available, as long as you don`t sit on it! Mrs will thank them, she can have her spa now!!!!!!

    rant over.

Interesting. I have seen the sign there saying that.

All I know from my dealings is that I was allowed to take a used 05 S/Triple for a spin before I confirmed my order for my one.
I have found my dealings with them over my purchase professional and fine.

But your point is valid, and its always good to buy local.

Not allowed to sit on it is a bit rich, I can understand if they won't let you take it for a test ride, but not allowed to sit on it? Go somewhere else and find a test model.

It was the manner more than anything, you would have thought I had asked for the crown jewels! He only had to say that they preferred that I didn`t, but have a demo out the back if you would like to see it, I would have been happy. Thanks for offer BTW, but not going to give in that easy. Will try P/North soon.

Yeah, I know how you felt!

I'm not a kid and I thought I would do the 'right' thing and ask if I could sit on 750 Cruiser. Bit amazed/pissed off/ surprised/ speechless when I was told "No sorry" and just staggered out of the showroom. The irony was that they did not know that I owned the building they were leasing.

If goodwill counts (and I'm sure it does) - not a good call

It was never like that at Hawkes Bay Motor Cycles when you were selling bikes.

Hey Merv. You've got a good memory! Yes. The best way to sell a bike was to just give em the keys and say 'Try it out." Worked most times and still works now. And would have worked in Fazer's case I would bet. Then he wouldn't have to face the prospect of dealing out of town. Buggered if i know where some sales people come from?
Good luck any how Fazer. It will be worth it in the end..................

You are absolutely right Denill. Anyone worth their salt would probably identify the customers intentions within a few minutes of entering the premises and act accordingly. Still, their loss.

Time to drawer a line under this episode.............Wonder what the Honda VFR is like????????
