And then some people are just plain old ticket-magnets, poor buggers, - others around them get off scot-free and they get a ticket every time!(must do a thesis on the reasons why).

It is always hard to come into a discussion at the end of the day when about all as been said, but I am with you all the way here with indicating. It is something that we should all think or re-think about. I have been riding bikes on and off for 30 odd years and consider myself very aware of them as I drive my car. I very nearly cleaned up a young man on a bike the other day. I turned out of the shops behind him, he indicated a right turn, and pulled to the r/h side of the lane, as I moved to the left to go around him he suddenly chopped down a cog and turned left accross my path with no warning!!!!! Imagine if I had collected him, I would have been the bad guy all the way. So as a good friend of mine is known to shout out in these situations "Indicate please driver" (insert rider here if you wish)

Whatever, it's all starting to wear a bit thin, ya need to try another act or you'll lose ALL the audience.
Well, we did once get a speeding ticket together.

As long as I keep the attention of a certain ageing, alcoholic redneck cop I'll be happy.

Note from Joni - due to the excessive size of this image i have had to remove it - it has caused a lot of hassles for people who are on dial up.

Note from King_Dover - due to your tight wallet or the fact you live in the sticks in a third world country, please go to options and turn off images if your connecction is that shit. Peasants.

Well you may have resented it if you got a ticket, and in this case you may have learnt a lot, (the universe gives us what we need, apparently) but I think it's terrible that after having a licence for less than six months you ride around with no idea how fast you are going, and change lanes and overtake without indicating. Cars do that and we bikers complain, cyclists do it and we complain. Do unto others......

Also, I was refused an exemption for after hours riding, they arent THAT easy to get.

Going to do RRRS in the near future.

Yep... that's why I'm waiting until Restricted before I apply. Plus, my reason for after hours is genuinely for work -- was that the same in your case? Plan on getting letter from my boss, might say too that I've done RRRS (which I will have done by the time I apply). Can't hurt.

Thank you for your valuable contribution to this discussion. You show remarkable insight, and a rare appreciation of both the subtlety of my argument and the circumstances under which it was composed. A small correction to your spelling, though: surely you meant to write "winey whinger" ?

I spotted Dover in the pic on post #66 - I'd recognise that fat black chick with frizzy hair and a white right palm anywhere!!!

Yep I had a letter from my company, and a copy of my rosters. They said because I had a class 1 (car) licence I could use that to drive to work. Which is true. I guess if I didnt have a car I would have mentioned that, and it might have helped. You might be ok seeing as you dont have a car licence.

It annoys me because if I had the time (or patience) I could quite happily ride a 50cc scooter home and be perfectly legal, but I cant ride my bike.

Oh ok, that's interesting. Never thought that might be an issue. One benefit of only having 6L, I suppose.

Perfectly logical response though, I suppose.

IF you had been on an open road in an unpopulated area with no other traffic around then maybe, but speeding like a twat in town is irresponsible and deserves a fucking ticket.

Especially when you admit to not even knowing what speed you were doing.

All the righteous cunts on here harp on about time and place, do you think this was the time and place for

    A) riding in that manner?
    B) a thick plod using "discretion"?

I can't see anyone else getting discretion for 160 in a 100 zone, even if it was the dead of night, on the desert rd, without any other cunt for miles.
