Brilliant. That 'news' page has a guy sitting on a toilet as the main banner and it asks "is this the new Hornet?"

Looks like its the current Hornet with a CBR600RR/1000RR tail section on it...the red and white has been photoshopped.

[edit] - it should also be noted that in the same block they say:
Other rumours include a big update to the VFR800 and the long-standing persistent rumour of a new Blackbird (c'mon, it's gotta happen in 2006 surely!).

They were almost bang on the money with the "daytona 680" a few stories below the 1000cc hornet.

    hornet 1000 good authority

I hav it on good authority that yes there is a hornet 1000 based on the blade coming out as early as next year as for that pic who knows not even dealers yet. My guess is it would look more like the new 600 hornet which is very horny!

Gosh I hope you are right. I love my 900 - best bike I have owned, and despite looking at (and buying) other bikes I have not found anything I would replace it with. The new Bandit gets close, but a Hornet Thou' would definately get me into the Honda dealer to talk turkey.

Possibly as early as April!! But lets hold the excitement ??
Apparently feature rich, so wont be the bargain pricing of the 900's

Is that a Hornet, though? CB1000R... I thought the Hornet was an F model. Perhaps I'm blind and couldn't read any mention of `Hornet' on the page.

It doesn't seem very Hornet-y, looks very CB1300 Muscle-bikish instead.

Looks 10x more modern for a start. Can't say that people don't buy bikes predominately on looks.

Same front suss as the new fireblade.

Inverted forks, single sided swingarm, radiator shrouds, sharp lines, new engine, it's good.

Yeah I agree......all accept the radiator shroud which I think is naff, the pipe ain't all that flash either but I'm betting at will be a goer.

Yeah, I don't like how the tank baloons out a bit rather than there being a straight line from front of the tank to the shrouds, but on the whole I like them.

I'd replace the headlight unti first, then maybe the pipe. I'd get the pipe to go round the other side or a buell-like muffler underneath to show off the rear wheel which would be painted white.

Hornet's are made to be modded afterall.

It's not the same. It looks interesting, good or bad it doesn't matter because it at least creates conversation. A standard hornet can roll down a busy street and go unnoticed if it is quiet. That thing in 'dragon green metallic' will get the occasional gawk.

USD front forks, not really with the effort really, but they look cool. Same with the single-sided swingarm. Flashy brakes are worth the effort though. The 919 shares brakes with my 1996 vintage 400, which were great in 1996 but passe style wise in 2008. No argument they work fine though.

Though Honda say the engine is 'based' on the CBR1000 engine. Which is a crying shame, it's utterly brilliant the way it is. The next fireblade engine probably is even more awesome. 'based' usually means 'strangled'. But then, Suzuki apparently haven't killed the Hayabusa engine in the B-King, so there is hope yet.

I look forward to taking it for a spin.
