I like those sites where you can rotate the picture like that. Yes, yes, little things amuse me...That's why I ride 600s.
That's a smart looking bike, especially in white . They've done a good job styling the muffler considering they have to be large to meet regulations.

Was looking at Deano's Repsol the other day and the brakes appeared to look the same as the Hornet, Simon. I could be wrong... would expect the Repsol brakes to be radially mounted anyway.

It depends - a good set of conventional forks will be better than some cheap, badly set up USDs, but usually USDs are better, with less unsprung weight.

SSSAs look kewl, but they generally add unsprung weight and no practical benefits apart from easy(ish) chain adjustment and wheel removal.

    So, it's just about style?

Often, but not necessarily. Frequently it means that it's been given reworked cams and fueling to provide a softer top end and more mid-range torque, which is great for "real world" riding. If you're not riding a repli-racer and screaming around at 37,000 rpm on a track, what use is a strong hit at the top end?

You must be a little hard of seeing because the cbr1000's brakes are completely different from the one my rvf and the ones on the cb919. The cbr1000's are radially mounted as you surmise.

The difference in feel between the rvf and new style radial brakes is quite different. Radial brakes are a genuine improvement. I can't see how they do a better job, but they feel much better.

Don't forget the frame needs to be stiffer for USD forks too. So it can weigh more, or can be a more complicated assembly, or it can be built out of more exotic material. No matter what way you cut it, it looks better but costs more.

Yes I know quite well. In fact, I am dissapointed to see that the cb1000 has the 4 stud centre instead of the single castellated nut. Why? 'Cos it looks cooler. Ducati put one on the 1098 for style reasons. They put one on the 748/916 for style reasons too. They admit it.
    So, it's just about style?
Fuckin' aye. Image counts. Honda's are seen as old fuddy duddy's bikes. They need to bling it up bad to keep up with the gixxer set. That bike is kinda blingy, it wears the technology on the outside.

Have you ever ridden a CBR1000? That engine needs no help to make it more user friendly. It is utterly stupendous the way it is, lots of power everywhere. 'Reworking' risks totally ruining it. Honda already compromised peak power for power everywhere already with that engine.

That hub is lifted straight off the VFR800, which is strange, because they seem to have designed a new swingarm and wheel.
To be honest, of the bikes with SSSAs on the market, the Honda has the ugliest one. Kinda disappointing.

Only the 1997 or 1998 model, so I was just pulling stuff out of my arse.
    As usual.

Have found R&R pretty good ie; Z1000, GSX1250 and xb12ss.
I think its more the concepts that don't deliver.

That may be so, but its a better investment if you have the readies.

Whats the point on saving a few bucks and coming second on a GSXR or ZX10r? Actually, I don't even think they came second that much in the WSB.

Im led to believe your lookin at a honda 599. I was reading some bike mag and there was a write up for the new hornet and it had picks that looked more like the new kwaka z1000. Allso it was named the CB1000R not the F. Think it said around 998cc or so.... it was a wee bit higher than the 919cc of the F.

Heres the site it was on.
