    Arrow Akaroa -Le Race

Heads up for those planning on going for a ride around the Port Hills/bays or to Akaroa on Saturday 31st March.
It is that time again for the Le Race where the cyclists will be going hell for lycra from Chch to Akaroa & have in tow all their support drivers.

    Le F'n Race

Thanks for the heads up,there's not much to ruin a good ride around the hills more than hundreds of c***suck'n pedaljockeys and their entourage, you'd think they own the road, not that I don't.

Le Race. Isn't that an event for treadlies? I hope the participants are paying to use the road.

Actually they are. A good portion of the entryfees go into paying transit to use the road.

No - the entry fees go to the consultant who prepares the traffic management plan for Transit to approve. Rest is for paying for spot prices etc etc. Transit cannot charge road users to use a public road - thats for the Gvment with petrol tax, road user charges etc etc.

Ta R. My boss competes in this event every year thats how I know it is coming up. I haven't seen any advertising or warnings on anything yet.
I am surprised that the Wheatsheaf Rally is being held this weekend as well. It would put a lot off day trippers.

Good luck to your boss. I've done the race twice and enjoyed the misery. You may have figured I'm not the cyclist build and 5 hours in a saddle gets to me a little. Nothing like cramp in all leg mussels at once. Have to fall over to get off bike and then spend 5 mins on the ground in misery. Magnesium Phosphate (Cell salts #5 I think) is the only thing that has managed the cramp for me (I've also done Rainbow Rage twice and Round Taupo once).

    Cheers R
