I hate to become part of this trend...

...but i had my first bin yesterday.
So, coming around a corner, 1 corner from home, and i feel like the bike is running nice. Been riding for ~ 40 mins so the tyres are warm, i'm feeling good, confident.
Next thing i know the bike slips out from underneath me, not sure at all how it happened. One moment i'm riding fine and next i'm sliding across the road.

Wore a patch through my pants and my jacket (dririder), little bit of road rash where it wore through on my arm. Helmet didn't get a scratch on it.
Bike is missing a handlebar (RHS) and indicator (RHS) and got some scratches on the brake pedal and side of engine.

I didn't see anything slippery on the road, i wasn't going slow but i didn't feel like i was going too fast for the corner. So im really struggling to figure out why i binned so i can learn something from this experience.

What road/corner in Howick was it? I'm in Bucklands Beach.

Glad you are ok and hopefully on further reflection you will realise what went wrong and learn from this experience.... my first bin taught me to go buy leathers

yeah, im pretty sure my next jacket is going to be leather. Felt like i wore through that jacket way to easy.

It was the hard corner on Takutai Ave, I was coming around it heading towards bucklands beach road.

Good to see that you weren't hurt. Your gear did the job it is designed to do, ie. save you from a crash once. Leather will protect again and again.
    Time to ride

Just how many people are in this area now...

The corner is much easier going left, than right. I prefer the left hander heading to the right, just watch out for the power pole on the apex. I swear that area hates me

    Not a good corner that

I've always taken the street on the right (Sea Spray Dr) before the sweeper. Its a road less travelled and you can make a quick left onto B.Bch Rd and miss the q at Takutai. Also, when you come out of Takutai if you are carrying on down B.Bch Rd you have to quickly move across to the right to avoid people coming up Laings Rd so they don't think your are turing left, if that all makes sense.
If you can't be a good example, be a horrible warning

Yeah, we could race all the aresholes in their modified cars and watch them rip the gearbox and diffs out of their lowered cars on the speedbumps.

Is it that there are more riders in this area or have the locals all just gone and bought bikes?

MrMeow..what kind of tyre have you got on the front and how old is it? A similar thing happened to me in good conditions due to a shitty front tyre past it's use-by date.

I suppose I'm not cool enuff for you B.Beach types since we're in Botany Downs
In space, no one can smell your fart.

Bummer 'bout the off the dude! Me too got the Dri Rider Jacket. Hope to soon have a custom made leather jacket from Dusty at Leda leathers. Always had the feeling I need leather.
