West Auckland chip seal patches (3 April)

Not sure if these are all over the place but i've mainly been riding around out west.

All over the place are 'patches' of chipseal poping up... great, whatever, but they arn't being swept!

Have had a few hairy ones, not even speeding but just being caught out.

    Bloody dangerous

Where's our mate from the Serious Crash Unit? He's just done a m/c course .... this is the kind of stuff he'd be able to make noise about.

Also the area on the NW m-way. Heading east, just as you get to the Patiki Rd off-ramp, there is a patch of reseal in the left hand lane.
It appears that several truckloads of bitumen have been dumped and randomly flattened with a steam roller.
Anyone filtering in lane 1a needs to really watch out, as the edge of the bitumen is quite high.

Tell me about it. And it's not just the chipseal either!

Just recently the Council took it upon themselves to "repair" and "improve" the roads by filling in the pot holes and sunken edges of the road with lumpy lava-like tar. It's a feakin death trap when you're hard on the front brakes heading downhill into a sharp bend!

Next thing the front's jumping like a pogo stick on adrenalin and you're swearing like a trooper trying to tame the beast.

Dunno which is worse - skittish chipseal or lumpy (soggy on hot days) lavaseal.
Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

Its the Council end of financial year budget clean out.

Each kingdom builders department is allocated a budget, if you don't use it all then your budget will be reduced the following year as to the head honchos you didn't need it all so why give you the same.

So the little kingdom builders go on a spending rampage to use their budgets up so they can request more in the next financial year. Hence all the random road works etc
