[QUOTE=TempBJ;1000241]Moving from Honda to itallian because you think the KB homo's are eyeing yer arse up is like moving from Brighton to Amsterdam ffs!
[QUOTE]
I've been to Brighton and Amsterdam...I preferred Amsterdam so I guess I'll have to get a Ducati on your recommendation - cheers. Do we get free pipes or spliffs with a Ducati?
Seriously though - if Ducati made a Learner bike I'd have had that but they don't so had to get the honda - I've been in love with the sound of Ducatis since I was 14 (22 years) I owe it to myself to get one before I die.
And I wave to everyone on 2 wheels - even cyclists (out of habit)
Why do we feel the need to hate other road users?
In space, no one can smell your fart.
I am - yeah. Love 'em on the track. Find them quite frustrating on the road.
i have a very hard time with the temptation and the ease they can get me disqualified.
It's so easy and effortless and joyous to do 150, 200 whatever that I'm always fighting an internal battle.
I'd prefer a 54 horsepower Scrambler and wring its neck for my jollys on the road rather than idling round frustrated at not being able to use 150 ponies.
Sprotsbikes have their place. I spend very little time there. Most road riders are the same.
ok, fair call, I did think that you were a speed hippie "shouldn't be allowed to be made" far too dangerous blah blah blah" but your not, but yea fair call
Now Merv. How can you class a sewing machine as a bike. They don't even have to endure the process of the Graduated Licence System like us real bikers have to. They park wherever they want even if they cause others problems. They raise our ACC costs and have never heard of protective gear.
Now go wash you mouth out with soap Merv![]()

Oh! and to that scooter rider that waved back at me yesterday - It wasn't me, I wasn't there, I was on holiday at the time![]()
I'm only wearing black until they develop something darker
We came, We listened, And in one voice we answered
BULLSHIT!! BULLSHIT!! BULLSHIT!! BULLSHIT!! BULLSHIT!!
Exert your talents, and distinguish yourself, and don't think of retiring from the world, until the world will be sorry that you retire. -Samuel Johnson
Hey, hey, can we focus on the Harleys? We all know the Honda-phobes hold unjust opinions so lets just keep it real here eh?![]()
"Speak in short, homely words of common usage"
So let me get this straight... I own a Honda. My only other bike was a Honda. Does this mean I have to stop having sex with my girlfriend and start hanging out in Ponsonby's more "eclectic" bars??
Personally I think that what is taken as "hatred" is often simply an inability to understand other peoples' choices.
I'm guilty of this myself - I can't understand the appeal of riding a bike that weighs upwards of 500kg fully loaded on cross-ply tyres, that has less ground clearance than most skylines on cuttys, can't stop quickly and is out-accelerated by my family sedan. Particularly on our roads with our drivers, where active safety is so important.
Still, doesn't stop me from waving at cruisers, or scooters, or even other sportsbikes for that matter!
Well, I have a Harley, I like it, I paid for it, I maintain it, so be it, If you think I'm a non waving Hoodlum cum 1%er wannabe whateva, you'll never know...but... you may see me at a track, show, rally someday and hey I'll talk bikes with you....coz that what being a Biker is about....to me anyway.
I ride a Harley and I could never drink 3doz per night; close, but not 3doz. My shit smells too mate, so does my lady's (just quietly) and she rides a Harley also but we're so over the B/S of what kind of bike you ride. You ride, so with that you must have at least SOME great qualities. The only reason I won't wave is if I'm concentrating - in the middle of some important action or other. The rest of the time I wave to all, so does my other half. We have friends with Kawasakis, Suzukis, BMW's and heaps of Triumphs (old and new) can't think of any Honda owners but you get my drift. They aren't mates because of what they ride; they are mates first and foremost.
If you don't like what I ride then that's your problem, not mine. I ride a Harley for its soul, its styling, its history, its sound and it's robust (even agricultural) qualities and simplicty. I fix it myself, I ride it sensibly and within it's capabilities, (and mine) for the most part, and I always stop if someone is on the side of the road, ragardless of their ride.
At fifty, have I got it right yet?
I can not think of any other bike that can polarises people more than a Harley.
You either love them or hate them there are not that many people that just don't mind them.
When it comes to a Harley, every one has a opinion about them and their riders.
At the end of the day you have to ride what ever puts a smile on YOUR face.
Feel the fear and do it anyway
Don't confuse education with intelligence.
There are alot of highly educated idiots out there.
Stop asking "why?" and go for a ride.
It doesn't matter what anybody else thinks.
You're all wrong anyway.
If a man is alone in the woods and there isn't a woke Hollywood around to call him racist, is he still white?
