    Which bike radar?

    Hi All,

This is my first time on this forum. I have an 07 Rocket 3 and want to purchase and fit a Radar to it. Which is best given it is a naked bike?, any suggestions appreciated, thanks.

I have a nekid bike (GSX1400) and run a Bel STI Xr with a hard system.
It also has a waterproof cover and I got all components from Radar Direct.

The system works great, gives plenty of warning and I am very pleased with it.

There are essentially three to choose from, the Escort 8500 X50, the Bell RX65 or the Valentine One.

The Escort and the Bell are basically the same, the V One gives the added advantage of telling you where the radar signal is coming from.

The Bell and the Escort both have a head phone jack, the V One needs an accessory, also...if you mount the V One where you can't see the display then the directional stuff is useless.

I have the Escort, it's saved my license once and has saved me maybe a couple of tickets in the last 12 months that I've had it, so IMHO it's worth the investment. In saying that, it's not perfect and I have had a couple of tickets.

Performance wise yes, the escort is 10x less likely to break down.

Get in touch with CartertonRyan on trademe, http://www.trademe.co.nz/Members/Lis...?member=338700 or on email at info@discountbay.co.nz. He's got the sharpest prices around, knows his stuff and can supply waterproof covers, mounts, hardwire kits. Highly recommended.

Another function that KB has that I didn't know was offered!

Be aware that are allegedly looking at introducing new radars. Lou Giradin suspects it will be Ku band radar, so this might be relevant with your choice. Both the Valentine1 and the Bel RX65 Pro have this band detection capability already.
