    Can't find my VIN plate

Hey, i went to get a warrant today (first time i have gotten one for this bike) bike passed fine but, dude couldn't find my VIN plate and after coming back home and trying to locate it i cant find it anywhere on the bike.

All the records i got with the bike when i bought it list a VIN number and the engine and chassis numbers match the paper work / listed VIN too.

the question is can i get a new VIN plate to match the docs i have or will i have to get the bike totally re-certified and re-vinned?

if any one can give me some advise that'd be sweet.

    cheers.

AFAIK you should have no problem getting a re-issue of your vin plate providing you have all the necessary paperwork, which it sounds like you do.

i dont think in 1990 they had VIN plates, they use the plate thew manufacture put on the frame, will have the numbers they need on it

have you checked under the seat, under the side covers,it will be riveted to the frame somewhere, keep looking, they have been known to put them in some weird places

Is your bike an import or NZ new? If it's NZ new or imported before 1995 you don't need a VIN.

yeah, i have checked all over the bike, under seats tank, rear fairing etc cant see it anywhere, was an import after 1999, so yeah needs a vin plate, it has had one as it has had about 5 owners, but cant for the life of me find that damn plate I am trying to get hold of the previous owner to see if he knows where it is...

As a few other people have said, just use the chasis number, if the bike is nz new it wont have a vin plate

As i have said it isnt NZ New and has a listed VIN number with VTNZ so, yeah i guess i will have to try and get a re-issue.

They are glued and riveted on,in the unlikely chance it fell off, there would be two rivet holes.Suposed to be on the righthand side or to the centre, unlikely to be on the left. It's there, you just haven't found it yet - have a girly look.....

it is now attached to the outside of frame, just below the tank on the right.
