Sweet as visit anytime u like you got 5 kms of windy metal Rd and logging trucks. I'm the first on the left after the metal starts up the Waiotahe Valley Rd If you turn right down Toones Rd which is the second road on the right past Kutarere (Whakatane or Taneatua - Opotiki highway ). Turn right when u come off the bridge, Thats Waiotahe Valley Rd. After the recent flooding it took them 5 days dig a new track around where the river had taken the road out. The reason I am thinking about doing this is the flatmate took my bike out to give it a run while I was down the Auckland Islands Scampi Trawling. The lock nut that holds the Cam pulley must have worked loose and the keyway eventually flogged out and when it let go it smashed the valves and spat them out the exhaust, because I couldn't find any sign of them, puched a X hole in the piston. A few scratches in the bore but nothing bad. The motor still runs on one cylinder. Ive had the head repaired and I have second hand piston, valves and cam that I can put in and its a goer. But I can score this ST2 motor for a good price and it has done less than 1400 kms. So for less than $3500 I can have a vitually new motor and a spare. Ive emailed Ducati dealers all over the world in search of someone who had done it but haven't found any one that has yet. I believe it can be done. But you know how it is with things like this, there is always some little thing that doesn't want to fit. Ph number here is 073154667.
    good riding

Have you talked with Dave McDonald from Palmerston North? Or Matt Meads from Hawera? If not I can PM you their details - they're both real Ducati people (Dave owns the lovely 900SS that Peter Sales races)

Ah shit....I've just read your last post again - I thought you lived between Wanganui and Hawera! So not sure when we'll be up your way. But let me know re Dave/Matt anyway.
