    CBR1000RR Fireblade stuffs

    Hi,

    new owner here, 2005 model.

    1. Anyone have recommendation on what radar detector mount I should get/make/buy/steal? Have looked at the ramsolutions.co.nz and they have more variety than kama sutra's sex position. Im totally lost there.

    2. Anyone have any experience with the TankSlapper paint protection stuff?

    3. Does yours clunk very hard when shifting from neutral to 1st gear when the temperature is over 60 degrees?

    Confused.

Are you suggesting that there is a paint that protects you from having a tankslapper?

Stealth technology has proven useful at last!

I fail to see the correlation between stealth technology and a tankslapper, unless you're talking about parking warden slapping your tank with a parking ticket.

A group of us (4 x 05 Fireblades) all had the same clunk problem...Cyclespot indicated that it was normal for the Honda design but I wasn't totally comfortable with it. Also, I had problems with fast shifting from 1st to 2nd as it kicks into neutral instead. All the best with the blade...

    It's ok.
GSXR owner gets to be the one who drops the soap in the next Fight Club meeting.
That's the rule and it applies even to the club founder.

My bet is that you're running Motul oil. Try something else like Castrol. It made gear changes a lot smoother.

I'm using Mobil 1 and my box is still pretty clunky. Should have bought a Gixxer.......

    1. We have covered this.
    2. Are you talking normal tank protector or side protection? cos mine is bleck, I had that bonnet protection stuff applied - works a treat
    3. Intermittantly yes - worsens when its time for an oil change. I use Castrol GPS and change it at 6k on the button and it this manages it a little. Don't worry yourself over it. My 04 is same as the 06.

I found Repsol was pretty good in the gearbox stakes - worked well in the SP.

Haven't had the clunking issue with my '07, though it's only done 2300 kms so far. Can suffer from a vibration when changing from 1st to 2nd slowly: the lever kinda bounces back and forth. Nothing serious and doesn't happen if you make sure you shift positively.

My old VTR had a very similar problem, and also suffered from clunk-itis. Cyclespot also said that was absolutely normal.
