    New forums and posting

Hey guys - as some of may have noticed the site has undergone some changes. Mostly in the forum lay out. There is an entire new sub forum called bike mechanics - this is for the mechanical/technical part of biking be that questions regards to tuning, servicing or what ever issues the bike seems to be having. We have also tweaked the General Bike stuff sub forum as well to incorporate a few other things.

The reason for this is not to complicate things its to accommodate the huge amount of growth currently happening on KB. So enjoy guys….

One thing that needs to be brought up. The Moderators are spending more and more time moving threads that have been started in the wrong forum. People seem to just dump 80% in the general biker ravings section, and a lot of the time it does not belong there. We can understand a newbie doing this and we will be happy to help them out. However we are asking that people who start threads think before they post it, just check its in the right forum. Spank me is now firmly requesting that Moderators monitor this and penalise the users who just post without thinking. Your help in this regard would be appreciated.

If you have any concerns or questions please feel free to pm me.

No biggie nad not bothered or anything - There are far too many sections.

People dump 80% in general ravings because that is where people look.

If you want nobody to see something - stick it in its pidgeon hole and nobody much will.

One section for mechanical, one for racing and one for....well all of them.

You're starting to fix it till it breaks.

Me too! You've got to make people rub shoulders with the socialy unclean....make them take a piss at the urinal next to the last person on earth they want to see. That's how they grow....otherwise they stay in their corner. Some become like the King Rat of their jail....they stay there, others can ask to come in.We want a Public Bar.....not a Lounge Bar,and a Garden Bar,and a Karoki Bar,and a singles Bar,and a Queer Bar,and a Bar where you have to wear pink socks on wednesdays.....

    Yay! My new favourite section...

One thing I've noticed Dave, is everybody finds things in different ways on Kiwibiker. The site is growing, and this needs to be recognised.

    I certainly don't mind change.
And I to my motorcycle parked like the soul of the junkyard. Restored, a bicycle fleshed with power, and tore off. Up Highway 106 continually drunk on the wind in my mouth. Wringing the handlebar for speed, wild to be wreckage forever.

Hey! - I have change management qualifications and the old girl has a degree in it.

Not about change - it's about overcomplicating and good design.

    Tee hee...

Ever read "Who moved my Cheese?"

Actually, I read KB in three different ways, dependent on my mood.

    1. Through the RSS Feeds to find the latest posts.
    2. By clicking on New Posts
    3. By going through the lists forum by forum.

New lists is hardly going to affect me.

How else do others look for stuff here?

We try and accomodate all users Dave... some people have voiced the opposite to you. Some like it left, others like it right :spudguita

At the end of the day its Spanks call how he would like his site to look and feel.

New Posts. Then sift out the crap (that'll be my stuff). Only look for the section when starting a thread.

    It's good.

New posts - general - rant or rave - all I ever look in - unless starting new thread.

IE7 doesnt seem that bad. Looks like its trying to follow Firefox but still trying to be original. Couple of bad traights, but its OK

So, if I have a story about a ride on my tourer (interesting stuff here) , during which I had the misfortune to experience a breakdown of novel character (fascinating story here), and whilst limping home a prick of a copper gives me a ticket for having an a unroadworthy bike (which warrants a riveting rant about the iniquity thereof), in which forum do I post it?In tourers (my ride); in mechanical (my breakdown); in rant and rave (bloody coppers); or in Biker ravings? And what rule , in such polywozzaname cases , do we apply to ensure freedom from the dreaded red rep? Bearing in mind that such rule must be sufficiently robust to ensure that the moderator's assessment will always agree with the poster's considered judgement?

I think the safest course is to start all new threads in Pointless Drivel. All the interesting folk hang out there anyway.

Many threads end up in there regardless where they start as they tend to deteriorate into such due to the nature of things on KB. It's like the paper bin of the forum.

I have no problem with the way the site is set up, usually just use New Posts and check on Rant or Rave. Always appreciate I'm a guest on someone else's site and accept it for what it is.
