Agreed! Pays to go through Tim, though as another agent's quote with Star was a lot dearer!

Wasn't just you, I had the same problem when I was getting my insurance sorted a while ago. The Star online quote was ridiculous, but the same cover via Tim was way better, so I went with that.

Hey guys thanks for the feedback I better clarify this though: I don't work for Star Insurance I work for John Baker Insurance Brokers.
As a broker I work for you, not the insurance company. It is for this reason I can negotiate lower premiums with underwriters such as Star Insurance.

That would explain why Star was about $150 dearer than AMI.

Am curious to see what people are paying for a Gixxer 1000.

I had a K6 thou and in 2006 I was paying $900 for full cover.

I'm currently paying $560 annual for full cover on my 2006 SV thou.

Is anybody onto something better for the SV?

And this is why they are cheaper

Don't always go for the cheapest cover because you may find it doesn't cover what you thought it did, same goes for brake pads that are $150 cheaper - saves you $150 when buying them but when you need to make that emergency stop to avoid that dickhead that just pulled out infront of you, you find they wont work as well and splat. Just a thought.

Hiya Tim, thanks for sorting out insurance for the VFR, quick & easy.

As Jetboy has said, he works for John Baker Ins Brokers, not Star. If enough of us start going through JBI, we as Kiwibikers may qualify for premium discounts as the Ulysses club does.

    Get with it people!

    star ?

im with star and my bike was damaged by a dickwit that ran a red light and hit me in the back knocking my fatboy 60 metres down the road i was ok just back pain and sore legs, but my custom paint work was screwed they got a guy to try and touch it up, and he made a bigger mess even clearcoated underspray trapping it under neath, tape marks in the paint and just stuck a brush in some holes, i was pissed and so was the assor, the full tanks and guards now have to be repainted at a cost of 4k and they want me to pay 3k and they pay 1k ??? i have full cover with them costing me $1084.00 this accident happend on 07/01/07 and im still waiting to get my bike back as it was so all i can say is choose your insurance carefully and make sure of what you are coverd for and GET it in writing.
worst of all the dickwit that knocked me off is only getting diversion as he has a clean licence, he is ok and back on the road while i drive an armchair living in hope of getting my baby back life sucks so do insurance compaines i jst wish that he had wrote it off at least i would of had wheels by now.

    Angry insurance

I tried to get insurance through AA and they refused because I only had a learner bike licence. This is after having used them for 10 years and having a no claims bonus with them. How is somebody supposed to learn and get their licence, wankers.I ended up getting insurance with State, they seemed OK.
