I need some for my bike ... any advice out there ?
It pays to shop around. I am paying $800 a year for classic cover. My neighbour, with a new Triumph paid about $650. He took his insurance out a few months before me with a different company. When I enquired at the same company, the price had gone up. Its a bit of a moveable feast
Insurance companies suck !
But are kinda necessary .
i'm insured with NRMA on my 2001 Monster s4, i'm 26 and pay 925.
but on my Drifter which is a 2000 but worth more when new i pay 550. go figure.

Insurance companies out there who are ok with bikers?
Protecta Insurance New Zealand Ltd

Hi
Protecta is now Allianze
Not very helpful the guys and expensive also there is a new company Star ask Richard at Haldane
See ya
Kiwi
I used John Baker insurance brokers in Auckland. Fully comp. for my 'bird was $860, compared with a quote of $1300 from my regular insurer (State) and $1500 from NZI.![]()
John Baker was the first that i tried over two years ago when i arrived in NZ because our company was a client and i thought i'd get a good deal and after three months i found three insuarance companies that had better plans. Protecta was one of them.

Swann Insurance (Aust.) seem OK
I was with Protecta, but they cocked up my premiums, cancelled my insurance and didnt tell me until one day I thought something was odd, checked, and found I hadnt been covered for 6 mths!!!!!![]()

Like that
Transferring to monthly payments - filled out the forms.- paid the 3 months in advance - which they took - .......then...nothing until I got suspicious and checked!

Have to say.. State have been pretty good for me. They were one of the few companies (and the cheapest) that would insure my bike without previous policies (ie. house, contents etc). Paid out wth no dramas when I wrote my GPX250 off and were decidedly helpful.
good to hear about other companies out there though.. i'll be looking around when it comes up for renewal
Statee behaved like a pack of A...holes when I wanted to insure my new R1.
I have the maximum no claims bonus - and no accident in 12 years - but because I collect the odd speeding ticket they introduced me to the idea that next time I get a ticket they will kick me out - I have to say that I have about 6 or 7 vehicles insured with them...and pay beyond $3000 on my premiums a year...
go figure
I am looking for an insurance company who value their customers... if you kno one... let me know - rather today than tomorrow
Their track record speaks for itself.
I had the unfortunate experience of dealing with those pricks!.
Took me ages before I got my money out of them for totalling a car about 16 years ago when I was a young fella. They told me not to bother going back to them!. How's that for service!. I thought that was the reason you insured your vehicles!.
Never been back......
Seen and heard a lot of bad stories!..............
Ride safe dudes!.
